Oh wow, you mean out of everything? Or just in games? This one will take some thinking so write back and clarify.

Yeah, I realized after posting that it was a tough question. How about this:

-What is the tangible contribution to a game design or development that you are personally most proud of?

Well, I was the spearhead voice of updating Legend of the Five Rings with the starting holdings, which essentially removed the first two turns of the game (which were always just "buy holdings, buy more holdings") so the game got going faster into the action. This improved not only the game and tournament times, but also made demos much more enjoyable by getting to the fun part.

A lot of what I've personally contributed are mostly on the thematic and art side, though more design contributions will be seen later this year. There are two major releases we have coming up, one Gen Con, and one at Essen, and i've been on both.

It's funny because the types of those two games are so tailored to those shows' attendee type its almost like we planned it...

First of all, congratulations Todd! Well-deserved!

So, looking quickly at these images, I was almost thinking: Is AEG re-starting Guardians?

But both of them are probably from Phase, right...?

I was primarily the art and graphics director. It was my job to reinvent the look along with our graphic designer Kali. I think we did a good job, and we did it without moving any information (except for Light, which moved up just a little bit so nothing would be in the text area.

It was kinda funny. I inherited all the artists already under contract from Brent before he left, so I had to get to know them right away, but they did a great job IMO. We're really crafting a world.

And Jeff Quick, who is the now Thunderstone manager, did the art for the set following this one and it's even better, with the same artists!

Wow! I actually know a GOTW. Congratulations, Todd.

I played Forbidden Island with you at BGG.con. Do you have a favorite cooperative game? If so, what is it?

If you have to choose one, LSU or Alabama?

I've been out of role-playing for about 20 years, so I'd like your opinion on role-playing games.

What's the best AEG role-playing game that has come out in the past 20 years?

What's the best non-AEG role-playing game to come out in the past 20 years?

And you're always invited to Gulf Coast Gamers Club game day!

G'day Todd,

I try to remember to ask each Geek of the Week these gaming related questions, so to start with here's the ever so slightly modified GeekSpeak Hook questions for you:
Favourite game(s) for d10-1 player (optional, many non-wargamers wouldn't have an answer for this)
Favourite game(s) for d10-2 players
Favourite game(s) for d10-3 players
Favourite game(s) for d10-4 players
Favourite game(s) for d10-5 players
Favourite game(s) for d10-6 players
Favourite game(s) for d10-7 or more players (and you may choose a Party Game here although I wouldn't meeple )

Also Word Association Football , I will list a word and you list a game or games that you associate with it. If you like you can expand and tell us if you like it/them or hate it/them and possibly why.

Space ships
Witches
Trains
Transport (may include trains)
Workers (paid or otherwise)
Trading
Building
Pink
Theme
Ships
Money
Purple
Government
Vampires
Infrastructure
Dice
Dinosaurs
Gemstones
Dragons
Beer
Wands

Is there any particular game that you have played recently, new or old, that you would like to recommend to readers of this thread? And optionally, why?

Last but not least, what are the five games that you have played most recently?

That's very interesting, I must say that so far I've kept away from looking at the info on the AEG site, to build up, but once I read this post I made my way to look at the new art. I don't think I'll be able to restrain myself from reading the posts on the site now!

We really enjoy Arkham, but I liked Forbidden Island for it's quick play.

Ouch that's very rough. I was backing Alabama, because LSU falls just a little lower on my rankings of spite...

Easily L5R. As to what edition that's an item of opinion, but I really am happy with how 4th Edition turned out. The fan base seemed to greatly enjoy it as well. Streamlined, very much in setting but broken from the plot line the CCG creates (influenced but not beholden), so people could more easily tell their own stories.

I really admire 3rd Edition D&D and the open license for what they did to the market. It was a brilliant move to make it open to content, and the game itself was still fun.

I know I'm on the email list, as with anything it's still a time issue. My wife works every other weekend so taking a weekend I would have with her to go over and game is a rough choice!

Space ships - The New Game I've Been Showing Aliens From

Witches -

Trains - Ticket to Ride (not a big "train game" fan myself)

Transport (may include trains)
Workers (paid or otherwise)
Trading
Building

Oh wow I so want to answer this. Look at the pic I've included in this thread... that one coming at Essen...

Pink - Candy Land...

Theme - L5R

Ships
Money
- Yeah the Essen new one... gah i want to spill all the beans but Ed isn't ready for me to.

Purple - Crayola Doodle Match. I do have a 3 and 5 year old...

Government - Twilight Struggle

Vampires - Nightfall

Infrastructure - drawing a blank...

Dice - Alien Frontiers

Dinosaurs - would you believe the same game with the Alien and Pirate in this thread also features this nice lady?

Gemstones - Haven't played a lot, first that popped to mind was Forbidden Island really due to the little red thing.

Dragons - Thunderstone!

Beer - Not a game, but the Crab Clan Drinking Team from L5R popped to mind. They used to challenge players of any other Clan to drinking contests each year at Gen Con. They rarely lost.

Wands - Harry Potter CCG - yes my wife actually played this with me for a very short time. Only one she was ever willing to try, even of the ones I make!

Quote:

Despite some discussion going on about the new look, I would really recommend people try Thunderstone Advance when it comes out. The guys have made solid adjustments to the game that make it flow much better than ever before. We played it almost constantly among the staff.

Quote:

Setting aside those not available yet:

L5R CCG
Dungeon Lords
Arkham Horror
Thunderstone
Nightfall
