Okay, Outrider has been out for a year now and I will be creating some polls for the fun of it. I've noticed over a year of gaming, that some chassis are very popular and others (cough, Tailgunner) hardly get used. So, BGG'ers, tell me what YOUR favorite build is ... oh and be sure to reply below and tell us your preferred loadout and any anecdotes you want to share
and I'll give the first account below

Okay, I am in a unique position. When I play at home, there is an unspoken alliance between the wife and sons, that I am to be eliminated, no matter the other goals of the game ... I've even had my own teammate turn heel. Additionally, when I've demo'd this at various places, I have the same dubious honor as the 'creator.' becuase of all this, I designed (for myself HA!) the Trailblazer. I so often find myself solo, against everyone else, that I wanted a vehicle that was balanced and have the most desired arcs and attributes put forward, hence the 90 front, the fixed rear (just in case) and boosts on handling and firepower (the two most used stats).
... okay, I lied a bit. I didn't totally design it alone. One day, during playtesting with the family, my son stuck a HotWheel onto the Tailgunner card, presuming the front was the back. I told him it was supposed to be the other way and he replied "That's dumb." So I took it as an opportunity to test a new spin on an existing vehicle - The "Reverse Tailgunner" got alot of play and became my personal favorite, so a fresh coat of paint, tweak the stats a bit, so it's not TOTALLY OBVIOUS that it's a backwards Tailginner and TA DA: Trailblazer is born. It's what I call a happy accident.
My preferred build:
Engine: Small Block (D8) Driver: Veteran (D10) Armor: Experimental (D12) - I am frequently the focus of attack Weapon: Small Arms (D6) - I use the FP bonus + SP to boost this

THE INTERCEPTOR
I challenge anyone to deny that they don't love saying "Last of the V8 Interceptors" when playing this game!!!
Engine: Small Block (D8) - enough to keep me going Driver: Lone Wolf (D12) - skill is more important than anything else Armor: Improvised (D6) - who needs armor when you have skill? Weapon: Anti-Vehicle (D10)
Winning isn't everything, its how you play the game!

I always said last of the D8 Interceptors ... but that's my little Outrider joke (crickets)
Early in development the engine die correlated in just that way: V6, V8, V10, V12. I tried to hide the numbers in all components, but I like the abstracted way alot better, it gives me the feel that I can have the same 'car' but change the loadout (without changing the model)

I haven't played the game nearly enough to have a favorite vehicle yet, but as far as setup goes I like to keep the d12 and d10 in the Engine and Driver for the extra mobility and the greater chance of making the most of it. Which gets which does usually depend on the vehicle - generally I'll put the d12 with whichever of those two has the smaller bonus in order to even them out as much as possible.
The d8 and d6 then typically go to Armor and Weapons, again with the larger die going to the one with the smaller inherent bonus - although if the vehicle has a really nice set of firing arcs I'd be more inclined to put the d8 into weapons.
The softer armor does mean my builds aren't quite as durable, but with enough shooting bonuses piled on the other players are going to score hits even against d12 armor.
A house rule I've considered using (haven't tried yet) is one where a player could intentionally downgrade one die in order to boost another, giving either a more flattened setup or a more "polarized" one. For example, one player might choose to have a d10,d10,d8,d8 spread, while another could have a d12,d12,d6,d6 setup, and a third could have d10,d10,d10,d6.

Well vote for a vehicle that you like 'as a friend'

The original playtest version had 36 points to purchase dice at face value. I still use this in games with close friends, because the 8,8,10,10 and the 10,10,10,6 pretty much rock ... although a D12 driver can still dominate - if played right, the 12,12,6,6 variant owns

For now, at least - once you add dropper weapons all bets are off.

Who's to say droppers won't make the Interceptor more awesomer?

Mine is the Muleskinner.
Not because of the layout of the weapon arcs, or the heavy armor and light gun bonus. It is because it is the template I used for my ice cream truck when I first played the game.
