So the sequel to Mall of Horror has a new name: City of Horror, and has been announced in Asmodee's 2012 lineup. From Asmodee:

Quote:
This year Formula D fans will get a new expansion, in the form of two new maps that will be ready this summer. The Asmodee team is working on it at the moment, and tournaments in major conventions will give you a chance to test your skills on the new tracks. Seasons will be available from Libellud this summer, with simple rules, thousands of combinations, and outstanding artwork. We’ve got City of Horror, the sequel to Mall of Horror, and this time the Repos Prod team is preparing even more hard choices for the fans. All three games are scheduled for release in time for the summer convention season.

Not much information right now, but it's a very welcome announcement.

hello !

No french title yet ... only an us title : "the city of horror" !
And sorry, no no sound track included with the game ...

It will be a new game, using only basics of "the mall of horror" (places, moves and vote) and add a lot of new things. I can't tell you more right now ... but the game box will be full of great stuff !!!!

Nico, have you considered starting a new entry for City of Horror and posting updates there?

Anyone know if this will be 2 player? If it shares similar mechanics my guess would be no, but...

A few infos, from the designer himself (excerpt from the french forum Tric-Trac):

We have kept the flavor of Mall of Horror (nasty zombie game) and some ideas (places, characters ...) ; we've also added lots of new things.
Some of the changes:
- no dice
- no more central location (and thus, no more winning formula)
- less area control management
- more zombies
- zombies walk now!

I hope the lack of dice doesn't mean a reduction of randomness from the game.

Winning formula? Not sure what that means.

I liked the area control aspect.

More zombies and walking zombies. Interesting to see how that works.

Although I'm curious to see this new edition I really liked the more abstracted elements of the 1st edition.

Until I see more details, I'm in no rush to get rid of my 1st ed. copy.

hello !!

You don't need to get ride of your 1st ed. copy ... Just because city of horror is a new game, build on the base of mall of horror. It was developped not to be a reddition of MOH, but to be a new game.
Some elements are still there : each players has some character to save, waves of zombies are coming, players have to vote to choose who will die ...

But some new things are here to provide a new way of playing.

For the winning formula it's pretty easy ... In MOH, you take your 3 character in the central place, and it's very difficult to stop you. Now zombies are moving, interest points too ...

And don't worry the lack of dice doesn't mean reduction of randomness ... There will still be a lot of chaos in this city !!
