Your team member and you share only the number of achievements that you've collected. Everything else – such as icons, points and cards in hand – are considered independently throughout the game.

Team rules for Innovation were introduced after the publication of the base set. Yes, you can play the base game with teams, and that's the only way I like to play the game when we have four players.
