I searched fruitlessly for a resource like this for ages, until I finally gave up and made it myself. Here you go:

Definitive List of 2-Player Abstract Strategy Games for iPhone, iPad

It took me a thousand eternities to put it together, or anyway longer than my monkey mind usually allows, so I hope someone, anyone godammit, finds it useful.

Also please tell me what I've missed.

If you want me to review your game, just GM me and send me a copy. Abstracts, wargames and euros equally welcome. No party or dexterity games please.

I don't have either an iphone or anipad but if I did I'd have to say "Wow!" and "Thanks for the effort." Somebody who has GG need to seriously tip you.

Yup I'm Steve Jobs, resurrected so that I could make a post about abstract games. I felt my life's work was incomplete.

Speaking of which, I've found several more games to add. Hopefully I'll do so this weekend.

Excellent list. I recently downloaded "Wars of the Roses" which is an implementation of Rosenkönig.

Regarding Hive, a new app is apparently coming out in February.

War of the Roses isn't a perfect information game, is it? Aren't there random elements? (I thought there were cards).

Thanks for the heads up regarding Hive.

It's perfect information. All cards used are seen by both players. My wife and I are both enjoying it very much. It's highly addictive.

Here's the link to the Hive info, as well as lots of other goodness:

Awesome. I'll give it a try and add it to the list. Any particular weaknesses or strengths of the app you can share with me, which I should include in the description?

It's a pretty basic app, but it works smoothly, it's easy to learn, and we've had no problems of any sort with it. I'm glad to have it.

It has a nice "campaign" feature which gives you a series of challenging asymmetrical set-ups. Otherwise you play against the AI at 3 different difficulty levels. Since I have the boardgame and know it well, I started with the strongest level, and I can beat it, but not every time. You can also pass and play against a human opponent.

Let me know what you think after you've tried it.

There's an upcoming version of the stone-moving abstract game Epaminondas being developed and should be released shortly for iPad with a very nice modern, clean grey interface, I know of (via a developer forum I'm in). Website escapes me now. I'll fire you off a Geekmail when I get home and find it among my bookmarks.

You should. It's a good one! Playable online at several sites, too.
