Newbies.
We have a gazillion monster tokens.
When, and how, in the H do we get to use them?
Sorry for such a ridiculous question. Peeked a bit at the haunts and it seemed they weren't getting used very much!!!

They do all get used at some point, during some of the haunts. But some haunts don't really use monster tokens. It changes quite a bit.

It sounds like you have the first edition, the one with a gazillion monsters, and no easy way of sorting them.
I've used old boxes from backup tapes, mainly DDS2, and the guide from the files section:

Writing the haunt number on the boxes, makes it easy to find the right box, with the right tokens.
