The rules state that Polyhemus pushes ships away one space and if movement is impossible, the fleet is destroyed.
Let's say the enemy fleet is in a spot that is near the end of the island, on a sea space adjacent to that island. There is only one open spot that is lateral to the present spot - but it is not farther away in a strict sense... it's equidistant, exactly 1 space away from the island. Does this mean this fleet is destroyed, since it can't move further away from the island? I would say yes but would like to poll the experts here!

Since it can't move away one spot it's destroyed.
(See it as stone thrown + sinking instead of stone thrown + moving away from the stone.)
