I'm creating some Pokemon Fighters for a new CF set: Chunky Fighters PX - Pokemon Chunky:


The first 4 pokemon are Koffing, Gyarados, Pikachu and Haunter, and i need some good ideas for the special abilities. Anyone have some suggestion/critique?

For now i got:

Koffing

When Koffing is equipped with his Smog Attack*, he cannot be targeted with called shots.

*(the yellow ones, of which there's 4 in the final graphics)



Haunter

Haunter can force the enemy to reroll the Hit dice and/or the Strike dice when it's attacked.




Pikachu

???



Gyarados

Gyarados has two dice considered "body", and he can split damage received between those dice.


What do you guys think? I'm still working on the Pikachu ability, in my idea it should be something like the Paralyze ability in the videogames.
And for Gyarados, i love the idea of having a 4 dice Fighter, but... Maybe he can assign the Torso damages how he want?

Shouldn't that be:

OK, got it now. But not all the original Chunky Fighters has different graphics for each attack:

Knight: 2x Sword
Tentacle Monster: 3 x Tentacle (yellow) + 1x Tentacle (white)
Carnivorous Plant: 3 x Mouth
Golem: 2 x Fist, 2 x Kick
Slime Tower: 2 x Splat, 2 x Cubes, 2 x Hammer
Space Ranger: 2 x Forcefield
Werewolf: 4 x Human, 2 x Wolf
The Bear: 3 x Claw, 2 x Jaws
Zombie: 3 x Claw, 3 x Bite

So only do it if you feel compelled to do it.

The Smog ability is cool, but I wouldn't put it on four sides of the die because it is pretty powerful. Three should be enough.

Haunter's ability is way too strong. Have you thought about a sleep/dream eater ability? Maybe one attack is sleep, and then you have to change weapons to get to the dream eater attack, which can instantly kill a sleeping fighter?

If Gyrados has an extra body die, he'll effectively have much more HP than other fighters. It will make it harder to kill him, or make head shot attempts more likely. Whatever you choose, if a fighter has high HP, his special abilities shouldn't be too strong.

I don't know what to do with Picachu. Maybe some kind of quick attack? How would you work paralyze?

That would have to be playtestet. There are some other CF abilities that are stronger IMO, the Soldier comes to mind.

But that should be his only special ability. Having two body dice, and letting him assign damage how he likes it (unless a called shot). He should still die if one of teh body is reduced to 0.

Make the body dice different: 2-2-2-3-3-3/1-1-1-2-2-2, and I think it would work. That way he can still assign 1 damage to the 2-3 body die, and still not die.

Yes i was thinking the same thing about Gyarados, his ability is only to have one more body die.

shouldn't this became an immortal loop? Or maybe the second body dice is not really needed, i can have the same effect with a well hp balance (maybe 6?)... But i really love the idea of having a HUGE Fighter! ^_^


I'm thinking about Haunter ability. Dream Eater should be cool (i love that move), but in a fast paced game like CF i don't see double-round ability very well, especially because you have to re-equip the dice...

So i made this, from the original graphics provided by the kind mr Hayes.

I don't even want to start thinking about copyright infringiment and stuff, so i guess i'm not going to upload the files here on BGG anytime soon...

Thanks! I love working with your graphic style, is really clean and sharp, it helps a lot.
I'll hope to make this an "official" epansion, but as i said, i don't want to break any copyright law about Nintendo intellectual property or something like that.

I hope you finish this proyect, although the copyright things... if you feel confortable with the gameplay, you won't have problems with copyrights as you don't sell the dices...
