Life is full of tough decisions. Here is one of the toughest.
Normandy '44 or The Battle for Normandy?
Both games are designed by GMT so thats a tie. Which game is better?

They are two wildly different games.
Normandy '44 is a regimental level game, that's playable in a single sitting (albeit a long sitting), and at a single table.
The Battle for Normandy is a company/battalion level game that will take up your living room and will take weeks to play. It's a true monster game, yet is very playable.
So, what are you looking for? A game able to be finished quickly? Normandy '44 then. A game you can turn into a second career? Then TBfN is the one you want.

Love women in action movies and shows. It all started with Diana Rigg, in the Avengers.

If the differences startle you, then perhaps you could be spending more of your time taking advantage of what is offered on the web pages for the games, themselves, rather than soliciting for others to decide for you.

As Dave mentioned, Normandy '44 is a much smaller and quicker game. I also find it logical and learnable, whereas The Battle for Normandy doesn't seem to work very well with my thinking patterns.

If you are a casual wargamer, N44. If you are grognard, The Battle for Normandy. Or better yet get both. They are both excellent games.

All I've done for the last couple days is look at these two games on the web. I figured the opinions of others wouldn't hurt. Then this guy came along and totally proved me wrong.

The whole campaign game with all five maps is a monster (a very playable monster). But there are other scenarios to be played, including ones which use just one map.
I've played the whole thing just once, but have played several of the scenarios several times. I love it.
I have the next game in the series on Sicily pre-ordered.
Don't be scared off.

The Battle for Normandy is billed as a "playable monster" but a few of us tried it this weekend and found it painstakingly slow with many details you have to work out that in the end don't matter. It is not as streamlined a game as many like to put out.
