My gf and I frequently play the official two player variant of Catan. We weren't sure if it's legal to play a knight card after rolling a robber (essentially taking two cards from the other player).
Does anyone know the rule on this?

Perfectly legal in the actual game, so I figure legal in the variant too.

Yes it is, and its a great way to keep a leading player down a bit longer.
Its one of my favorite "screwage" tricks personally.

You could also play the card before rolling, but don't do that if the card you steal puts you at 8 cards. You'll have to discard if you roll a 7.
