When you play the Game of Meeples, you win or you lie down on your side.
Once upon a time, in the small land of Carcassonne there lived three communities of Meeples; the Red, the Blue, and the Yellow. Each group established their own city on the fertile plains and prospered.

Although disputes would arise and tempers would flare, the Meeples would always reach some compromise.

It was at one of these negotiations that the trouble began. As the leaders of the Meeples talked at the old cloister, an assailant approached unseen.

The attacker struck down the Yellow leader as the others fled.

As the sun set that day, a stranger approached the Yellow city with the body of their leader. The people gathered around and heard the stranger's tale of how he witnessed the Blue and Red Meeples murder the Yellow leader.

The cry for revenge rang through the city. The Yellow army set out to exact their revenge. The Game of Meeples had begun!

The first blood was shed in the fields between the cities. Without warning, the Yellows swept down upon the Blue and Red farmers, leaving no survivors.

The peaceful Blues would be easy targets, as they lacked soldiers to fight back. Quickly, the Yellow army surrounded the city while the Blues huddled in fear and hoped their walls would keep the intruders out.

But the Yellow war machine was ready. There would be no long siege, they would take the walls and destroy the Blues; destroy the ones who killed their leader!

The attack was swift and brutal. There was no hope for the Blues.

A few days later, a lone Blue stumbled up to the gates of the Red city and told them what the Yellows had done. The Reds agreed, the Yellows must be stopped in the field, before they would besiege the city.

And so the two sides met in battle. The Reds called a truce, wanting to avoid further bloodshed.

The Reds denied killing the Yellow leader, placing the blame on the mysterious assassin, but the Yellow's new leader was having none of it. "Liar!" he cried as he stabbed the Red leader.

With their leader slain, the Reds attacked. Many of both colors were lost.

As the battle raged, a new enemy appeared. At the head of this army the Yellows saw the mysterious stranger who had delivered the body of their leader and set this war in motion.

With the treachery realized, the Yellows and Reds stopped fighting each other and turned, united, towards their new enemy.

The battle was fierce. Divided, each side would have been overwhelmed by the invaders, but together they prevailed.

When the battle was over and the dead laid to rest, the two sides met. The cost of the war was heavy. Both sides agreed to lay down their arms and commit to peace.

But not everyone was so ready to forgive, not everyone would be so content with peace.
Would the peace last? Could the Blue survivor forgive the destruction of his people? Will Carcassonne again be threatened by the dark Meeples? Or is, perhaps, some new threat looming on the horizon?
**A quick note: This was the result of a teacher having an unexpected snow day and trying to put off grading quizzes. Just goes to show, that even teachers act like kids when its a snow day.**
