Just got an official word from Tim Uren at FFG, saying that if Kat XO's somebody to go punch the FTL, she does count as rolling the die and does get to use Hotshot on it.

He said also that Hotshot is not a die roll, and Gaeta's FTL reroll power can't affect it.

Should link him to the UFAQ where i'm pretty sure it says her ability doesn't work if she Xo's someone.unless you're going to argue for a loophole that the current player always rolls for ftl but then why wouldn't every die roll work that way?

Well the Rules for jumping do say "The current player rolls the die".

As about a huge of a shock as a boardgaming bit of news can be. I was told that too all along.... it has to be her action step (so it won't even work on a crisis pull or if she used Crit Sit. and did on action on her movement step), and SHE has to be the one doing it. So no using Hotshot while XO-ing, nor while being XO-ing. It was for those reasons, and that you needed to have a 5 or 6-str skill card on hand that I didn't understand some PBF houseruling and forbidding using her Hotshot to auto-pass FTL Control. It makes it sound like she just snaps her fingers and it happens... it doesn't happen THAT much from my experiences.

Now you need a detailed breakdown of every possible die roll... I expect most board locations use an implied (or "understood") "You"; "Roll a die..." but FTL is unique in that it doesn't.

I guess I can agree that FTL may work differently than all other locations and action cards (like a max firepower). If the rulebook specifically says that the current player rolls the die for that, and it is technically Kat's action step still, than it works for me.

That's probably a good ruling. I may have abused it a little much in 203 blush
