I've been playing this game quite a bit at a friend's house, but now that I've moved, I'll have to get my own copy. I was very surprised to see that I still have to get all the expansions separately (at quite a cost I might add). Does anyone know if there is a box set in the making, and if there isn't, am I the only one clamoring for one?

To the best of my knowledge, there has not been any boxed set collecting the first three expansions and the base game in one "Big Box".
However, you MIGHT want to purchase JUST the base game and wait for Alien Artifacts to come out (Some time in Q2 of this year IIRC), because AA is not compatible with the first three expansions.

You are likely one of the few.
It really helps to have played a whole bunch of games with base only, and then repeat adding one expansion at a time. The "big box" isn't a good idea for a newbie, as they don't have enough experience to deal with the expansions, and veterans wouldn't buy it, except to replace worn cards. So I don't see a big market for it, personally.

However, I don't agree with the reasoning.... many people buy the Carc and Alhambra Big Boxes. They don't feel compelled to add all 4 to 5 exp right from the very first time playing... They've all stuck with the base game and added exp later on when they felt comfortable with it. The same treatment should be applied to a RftG bb if it were to come to that.

I have the collection for sale in the BGG marketplace.
I am even willing to pay the shipping to the lower 48 US.
[Doh!!! Just noticed you're in Sweden... maybe we can work something out...]

As the owner of one of the Carc Big Boxes, I can say that it has something of an "anthology" feel. The Big Box presentation feels like there are numerous combinations, so you can play base by itself or base plus whichever expansions you like. Selling a Big Box and then saying "each expansion is dependent upon those before it" seems to go against the reputation that the Big Box has developed.
If RFTG was a game where the expansions where interchangeable, or could be added independently to the base game, a Big Box would make sense. Additionally, there are plenty of players that prefer to stop at one of the four possible spots on the story arc; not everyone likes to roll with all three combined. Just not marketing the Big Box sets the table for players to truly add at their own pace instead of just trusting them to do so with a Big Box.

Then they're free to just stop at whichever exp suits them, just like how some players who always want I&C, but never want to play with P&D can do just that.
I personally don't think a RftG bb is good just do to its volume influence, not necessarily about marketing of it.
