Hi everyone
I am playing my first Runebound game and just want to make sure I am playing it correctly.
My first 2 Green Adventures were cards which I got to keep after defeating them. I have read that as 'Challenges' they become my Allies...does this mean they can now fight for me (obviously within the 'one attack per hero/ally per round' rule). It just seems odd (and slightly unbelievable) that an arch enemy becomes a friend just because I kick their butt!
Have I misunderstood this rule...could someone let me know how they play it.
Many thanks guys (and girls)!

If that's what the cards say...
What cards were they? Just for interest sake.

Thanks for the reply.
Thinking about it, they were my first 2 yellow challenges (not green as I first mentioned). I can't recall the names, but one picture was of an elf-like lady surrounded by wolves. The other was of an evil lady hypnotising a soldier.
I guess my question is more general, in that if you defeat a 'person' and the card says something like "Keep this card and play it to hire an ally for less gold..." does it become an ally in the meantime...one that you can use to fight for you?

No. There are cards which DO become allies, but they explicitly say so, and give proper ally stats (encounter stats would make no sense for an ally).

So I keep the card, but not as an Ally...shame as one of the cards Spirit score was 14/1 - very powerful!! If they are not to be held as Allies, how many of these cards can I keep in my hand at any one time?

There's no limit on non-ally, non-item cards. I believe they are all one-shot cards (except for the red cards), so having a bunch is not particularly powerful.

Thanks Dan.
Part of the problem looks to be that I haven't looked through the cards as I didn't want to spoil the surprises to come...so when I beat a 'person' in a challenge, I assumed it was one of the Ally cards I could gain by defeating it...I didn't realise the actual cards specifically stated the fact..
Thanks for sorting me out!

Hi Galwyn,
The challenge card "Mistress of the Ferrox" i believe is the card with a hot chick and a bunch of wolves. If you defeat this challenge you keep the card. Now, if a later challenge is against another Ferrox card, you may discard "Mistress" to automatically defeat it.
There are quite a few challenge cards like this and you will likely build up a little set of them as your game progresses. But, they are not Allies. So keep them seperate from your two ally cards.
