i just bought that magnificent game from second hand but there is no miniatures (they was used for warhammer 40k.. ) i would like to get miniatures anyway..
i know that warhammer 40k offers almost same figures ( 1 box of Space Marine Terminator Squad and one box of Space Marine Terminator Close Combat Squad, and couple boxes of Tyranid Genestealer Brood ) but this would cost a lot.. is there are any other ideas to get space hulk miniatures ? ( can be a bit different) i know about http://sciborminiatures.com/en_,shop.php?group=70 this miniatures but they are even more expensive!
im sure there are some other terminator miniatures but i can't find them right now.

You might consider several companies, depending on scale and price range.
Ground Zero Games and Westwind miniatures are two of the best, but there are absurd numbers of miniatures companies out there.

Check ebay in European countries like UK and Germany for miniatures. You should consider buying older miniatures of Space Marine Terminators, made from pewter or plastic. On Ebay you can easily find Genestealers from the first and second edition of Space Hulk. You can buy painted miniatures for decent prices, the quality of the paintjobs range from bad to good. Often you can complete and/or improve the quality of the paint work.

I often buy up old figures on ebay that have terrible paint jobs, which drastically lowers the cost. I then strip them using "Detol", a brand of antiseptic here in the UK. Similar chemicals will be available locally.
It takes a little time, but is well worth the effort.

thanks guys! i know about removing citadel paint from miniatures
in poland we use "dot 3" (brake fluid ;d)
also i check ebay but price 10 euro per figure it's a bit to much probably i will just buy games workshop terminators and dig ebay for old Genestealers or i will find some alternative miniatures.
i also think about writing to games workshop maybe they can sell me original figures from space hulk 3rd edition..

wow Bartek, congartulations on aquiring a copy of SH and good luck with your search.... but i got to ask one thing.
Why in the world would someone buy Space Hulk to keep the minis to play Warhammer 40k with?

I got the complete game a while back for really cheap since the miniatures were removed and sold seperately ... I was able to replace them all using 2 copies of each of the following, found on eBay being sold in double packs:
Space Wolves Pack (There were enough bits in the 2 packs to make each of the Terminators so they would easily correspond to the 12 from Space Hulk and 1 dead marine)
Tyranid Hormagaunt Brood (12 in each pack so I have 24 total ... 23 regular and one painted differently to represent the Broodlord)
The only things I didn't make were the "theme" pieces (chalice, robot), but I've thought about replacing those in another way. When all was said and done, I have the complete game (parts and minis) for about $70 - $75 and I think I like it much better than if I had the minis that came with the game. (I wasn't particularly fond of the different poses they were given anyways, such as a Terminator ripping up the floor but moving around or a Genestealer hanging on a door frame but moving around the floor).
Maybe I'll post a few pictures at some point

If you use the German ebay look for "Symbionten". That is the German name for the Genestealers in Space Hulk and Warhammer 40K.

thanks! the answer is easy, money. by this price you get normally 10 terminators in poland, so all other stuff is bonus.. also i read in bgg forums that people think that space hulk miniatures are one of best quality from games workshop. i must say the terminators looks great.
Thanks Adam i think that "Tyranid Hormagaunt Brood" are really good option. and i think that i don't need to have 22 figures cause most of play they are "hidden" in blips. "Space Wolves Pack" i think they are to slim for terminators (legs and chest) but bits with hands are great!
thanks Berthold i use ebay.de from time to time, this might help a lot and i checked that link, i don't want "space wolfs" but you are right not all prices are so crazy, i think that original space hulk units just cost that much.
thanks once again guys!

Been trying to find a suitable chemical in UK (US everyone seems to use super-green or whatever it's called). Ones I've tried so far been bit disappointing.

i use break fluid Dot 3, you need to bath miniature in pure dot3 over night, next day just pick it up and remove paint by toothbrush. plastic miniatures maybe need less time.

Berud wrote: "Space Wolves Pack" i think they are to slim for terminators (legs and chest) but bits with hands are great! Hm, these are Terminators and the proportions are very similiar to those of the new miniatures. The poses are very different and the scale of the old miniatures is a bit smaller. And Space Wolves Terminators have very different decorations, which you may not like. Most old Terminator miniatures have plain armour without decorations. You should know that all old Terminator miniatures, made for Space Hulk 2nd edition or Warhammer 40K, made of pewter or plastic, have this style and scale. If you don't like it you would have to buy current miniatures. But these are also available on Ebay.

You can also just purchase a box of 10 Marines and 10 Genestealers. You don't really need the Terminators. I think they are overdone anyways and think the generic Marines look just fine. You can get a special weapons group to swap in the the Flamethrower and Autocannon figures. Make other similar substitutions using the swords for the claws.

On the topic of paint removal I have used both dot3 brake fluid and Dettol. I find Dettol to be effective on a wider variety of paints, especially if given time to act, but is very messy and I use it only as a last resort. Brake fluid, when it does work, is super fast and easy to get the paint off. It's my first choice, but with some painted minis I have bought second hand it just doesn't touch the paint at all. No matter what I am using though, I always wear gloves.

I tend to dilute to around 1/3rd Detol to 2/3 water and let the minis soak for a week. The closer to neat Detol you use the faster the paint strips.
After this, I scrub the paint sludge off with a cheap, soft toothbrush, and then wash them in warm water with some (fairy) washing up liquid and a fresh toothbrush.
You then leave them to dry on paper towels for about a week.
Total time is around 2 mins per figure, plus two weeks of wait time.

It is true that the Space Wolves are a bit thin compared to that hulking armor the Terminators have ... when I chose them, they were very cost effective, and I, personally, am not tied to having Terminators so I was more concerned with being able to match up the weaponry to coincide with what was supposed to have come with the game.
And the Hormagaunts have worked great in place of the Genestealers, they all perform identically (except for the Broodlord) so, to me, it wasn't a big concern what they looked like ... but I really do like the long scything claws they have.

Use the idea the regular game uses. Use one of the Genestealers, pose him on a pile of skulls (or something else high) and paint him a darker color than the rest.
I also think you should look at some of the Imperial Guard models, they look more like the marines in Aliens, which Space Hulk copied the idea from anyways.

I took a few quick pics of what I've been using, nothing special with the camera here, just some basic shots. I used Hormagaunts for the Genestealers and Space Wolves for the Terminators ... also, this was my first paint job ever, so please be kind ----
First one is my Broodlord, he is the same as the regular Genestealers except for the paintjob:
Next are a couple Genestealer grunts:
Here are my 2 Sargeants, a different color to easily see if there is still one on the board or not:
Flamethrower on the left, Cannon on the right:
On the left is one of the 5 Fist/Blaster marines, on the right is the Chainsword/Blaster marine:
Finally, Librarian in red, Claws on the right. Didn't have an axe/blaster setup, so I just pretend the Librarian can shoot (and Librarian does have a head, just can't see it behind the axe in this pic):
