Can't seem to find this information anywhere. I'm playing through the first scenarios of Stonewall Jacksons Way, and it doesn't say anything about manpower representation anywhere.

Anybody who knows the answer? Since there's so many unit states, I assume manpower value is a simple translation of the number of fighting men in the unit, and not an abstract amalgamation of men and morale (like for example in ASL).

If you have any of the original rulebooks that came with the games, it states on the first page under section 1.0 (Introduction) that each point represents about 500 infantrymen or 700 cavalrymen.
