I just got EF and was looking at this senario, I can't seem to see any way for the russians to do well here, I'm very new to this game and have not even played all the senarios in the base set yet so forgive the dumb question, I'm trying to learn.

Hi Todd,

We all have to start somewhere and there is no such thing as a dumb question. You need to bear in mind that most of the scenarios are NOT balanced. The only way to get a fair go is to play one game as the Germans and another as the Russians and see who gets the most medals overall.

It's a great game and unlike some other games; the more you play, the more you will enjoy it.

Regards,

Jim

A good thing to do when you're wondering whether or not both sides have an equal chance of winning, is to check out the 'military archives section' of the Memoir '44 page at the DOW website:http://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44/en/content/scenarioapp/.

You look op the scenario with the search function, and when you click on 'battle reports' in the upper right of a scenario's page, you can see the number of plays of that particular scenario', logged by other users and the percentage of wins for each side. You can also see your own plays and wins with each side, once you've played the scenario yourself.

Now, to answer your question this way: the win ratio for 'Russian Breakout' is 76% for the Germans, 24% for the Russians, with 91 games logged. So it's pretty safe to say that winning this one as the Russians won't be easy...

Ahh yes, thats right, I have just started and so far we really haven't done that, I will keep it in mind, we knew that but seem so pumped to try the different senarios that we forgot to do that, thanks for the reminder.

Ben! fellow German and very helpful BGG memeber.
I did not know about the battle reports, I will have a look at that for sure, thanks again for being so helpful.
