It's only a marginal difference in space. I have all expansions and promos all fitting (badly) in the original box with the game, with the insert still included. The next step, if more stuff comes out, and I buy it, is to lose the insert and come up with a safe storage solution for the minis in the box. I do have all the painted minis (free with purchase from EagleGames website) but haven't swapped them out yet.
