I play munchkin at school during my lunch break of 20 minutes almost every day. As you should know, Munchkin doesn't take 20 minutes to play, it takes almost an hour (on a good day). So my gaming group of 3 (4 or 5 if I play before school) have decided on a few house rules to make the game a little faster.
Rule #1: Charity and Dwarves We got rid of Charity entirely and said you could have any number of cards. This makes the game a lot faster because you aren't deciding what cards to throw away. However, this makes the Dwarves SUCK. So we just said that because most Dwarves are fat and not easily moved, they get a +1 bonus. It still keeps them contending against other races that way.
Rule #2: Fight! Fight! Fight! No fight can have more than 2 enchantments on a monster. Wandering monsters cannot have enchantments, but do not count towards the 2 enchantments. This makes battles much shorter and (usually) a lot easier.
Rule #3: Cheat! on combat-only items This doesn't make the game faster, but it's still something we use. Anything that says "usable during combat only" can be used as a bonus for all fights if used with "Cheat!". It's always fun to have a Magic Missile... EVERY TURN.

I do like the Cheat! idea.
