question 1,
Can your starting skills be traded into the store for half their value at any time in the game.
I'm guessing they can, but for some reason I've never actually considered this even when I probably should have.

Question 2,
For the purpose of equipping items, are Skill cards considered 'other'.
This is what my group always plays, meaning only 2 Skills can be available during each turn, but I just cant see any solid mention of what the 'other' in the manual refers to, so I always just included everything that wasn't defined, including the skill cards, is that correct.

Thanks.

Skill cards are not items, they are not traded or sold, after you train them.

They do not take up slots either

Skills are not items. Therefore, they cannot be sold, they do not take up any item slots, and they cannot be given to other heroes.

And in case it comes up, trait upgrades are not items either.

All item cards specifically list their type on the card. If that type is "other", then that item is an "other" item. For example, the Ghost Armor (shop item), the Ring of Protection (expansion shop item), and the Ring of Quickness (copper treasure) all list "other" or "other - rune" as their type.

Thanks, i hadnt noticed that they actually call themselves other on the card.

That will help the heroes out then, so far weve been playing as only allowing 2 of the skill cards to be active at any one time as we considered them to be an 'other' so this will help.

Thanks.

I didnt think they could be traded, it was just how you can buy new skills from the store got me thinking is all.

Someone paying to learn a new skill is easy to imagine. The part about teaching someone else and at the same time unlearning it yourself doesn't make much sense though :)

Right; that's only done with spells in Arkham Horror

I always figured the spell was on a scroll (or in a book) that was a required material component for casting the spell. Nobody has inherent magical ability in AH (that I know of), only that gained from ultimately external arcane sources.

That's assuming, of course, that the investigator giving it away took time to memorize the garbled nonsense he would be required to speak when casting, and frankly I'm not sure how many people would even do that. So yeah, spells that are given away are lost to the person who gave them up.
