I'm liking these more and more. Looking forward to the next one. Love the combination of simplicity and detail all in the same image.

Wonderful work Karim, what do you want to pimp up?
Shadows? Details? Eye?

IMO a "Warbear" rather than just a bear brings to mind something like Valley's image- a bear wearing armor, rather than just a bear. If you're looking to alter this one, that's what I would try.

I agree, but this one is my favorite so far....
Maybe just a skull cap type small helmet

I really like it as is! The simplicity is definitely a feature.

Actually I'm not a fan of that aspect of VG's war bear. (edit : I mean, I can see that it's an obvious way of going about it, but it looks like a warhorse : a domesticated animal that is meant to be ridden; I'd want my warbear to look more like an independent fighter... Not sure I have it now but that's what I'm aiming for)
Wyvern now.

not really a fan of the wyvern, doesn't really look enough like something that is going to fight. Also, what's the deal with the wings? Aren't they half-missing?

I completely rebuilt my Magic Realm game with your awesome graphics. These are wonderfully evocative. Thanks!

I always thought of unicorns more as breathing sparkles and rainbows as opposed to fire...
(as always, great work!)

Unicorn was always a weird creature to have as a 6-4, given that they don't exactly conjure up images of fighters. This one looks kinda wimpy, although I suppose the fire breathing is a nice touch.

Still need to find a way to incorporate Flying and Rangestrikeing. Wings are an obviious visual clue for flying, but what to use for R/S?

I much prefer Carthaginian's use of actual wings to represent flight over the clunky "bird picture" in the VG edition. It's much more organic to the counter's look. Likewise, I am not too fond of the superfluous, "bow and arrow" graphic for ranged attack. Simplest way would be to throw a highlight ring around either the character's power or skill rating. Or a bit fancier way would be to shade the power or skill rating in a 3D fashion so it "pops-up" from the flat counter.

Karim is an artist. So his images are not literal like a photograph. They're interpretive. I find them beautiful, inspired and evocative.
He did this for Magic Realm and having owned and played the original since 1979 I can tell you his designs breathed new life into that game.
