As most of you know, last year ended with a bummer, when one of our kitties, Caesar, died at December 31st =( . We still miss him and grief for his loss, but still our heart is big enough to bring another one. Aline had a person bring to her office two kitties who were in a very risky situations. The owner was poor, leaving in a slump, they were full of fleas, ticks, worms and worst, each had a very very bad eye. A friend of hers, who is an ophthalmologist, did an emergency surgery to remove the eyes, otherwise they would die. Ah, and they were less than 500g (1pound) each.
Both miraculous survived the surgery, and they convinced the owner to put them for adoption, problem is, they are a difficulty adoption. Both lost an eye and are malnourished. We check with my sister-in-law, and she will keep one of the them, but couldn't keep the other, as there was no place on her home. So after pondering a bit, we decided to stay with her.
So we welcome now to our home, our new kitty, Mafalda.

Thanks Andy. And you should, cats are awesome. For example, our kitty, Bell-chan, she lived on my fraternity most of her life, doing her needs on the backyard, or on the neighbor yard. When we brought her to live on the apartment, I was worried about she peeing and pooing everywhere. But alas, instinct is a wonderful thing, she went directly to the litter box and have used it as if she did her whole life.

When I first met my wife, she had a cat, Smokey (gray and white, beautiful). But Smokey had decided she didn't want to share. So she would walk past me and hiss. It took a long time but she (we) finally came around to each other. I do miss that cat. We have a beagle now (at least she seems to like me).

Awesome on all of you guys for taking them in. I know they'll be loved a ton. I adopted a kitten years ago that was listed as 'Feral', turns out they quit being feral once they realize they have a loving home and steady meals. He's the lovingest kitty Ive ever had. Glad to see the ones with minor physical problems getting loving homes. I tend to gravitate towards those as well when I adopt.

Yeah, that's the reason we decided to adopt now. My sister-in-law had already told me that she wanted a "difficult" one, I wasn't prepared to have another now, with Ceasar's lost still hurting me. But after Aline told me their story I knew I had to do something and take her in.

Confess... she is cute, isn´t she??
I coudn´t let those kittens behind... they were going to die without a good care and antibiotics. I´m glad she is here. I will take her brother to my sister´s place as soon as I take off the suture, they are doing fine, today is the third day after the surgery

Yes, they are actual brothers. We thought a lot about not splitting them, But neither us, nor my sister-in-law have a place for both in our houses, so we will each stay with one.

Am I the only one that is creeped out by "The brothers Ocularis"? Siamese are creepy enough with their lithe look and screechy yowl.
I think if it was the same eye, it wouldn't be bad, but to have them as bookends.... shudder.
Congrats on the upgrade and I applaud saving them. What a unique addition to the family!

You are very kind to have rescued them!
Several years ago we rescued a pair of sisters under much the same circumstances. The younger one had a large blister on her right eye (a "descemetocele"), but we were able to save her eye by dripping all sorts of weird potions in it every couple of hours over the span of several weeks. Her eyes were also weeping so much they kept getting gummed shut, but that only lasted a few days. When we rescued them she looked like this, but soon she improved to this, and finally this (the descemetocele is barely visible here).

I disliked cats for years, then my girlfriends cat became my little buddy. Now I consider myself a cat person and acknowledge the fact that cats can be wonderful animals/companions.
Congrats on your new friends, they are very cute!
