Hi Guys and Gals

My daughter and I started playing a two player game of 7 Wonders and have a question about how you have to play the cards on the Free City. There is a part in the Rules that says "if the card chosen for the Free City can benefit from a free construction (chain), this free construction MUST be performed". Does this mean only the card that is drawn Must be played if it is part of a chain card or any card in the person's hand that can be played as a chain must be played on the Free City? Do they have to play a chain card at all if they can play something else on the Free city? I kind of read this as the person with the Free City card had to play a chain card if possible so that you couldn't just use the free city to give you money all the time by having them buying your resources.

Thanks

Joe

Shouldn't this be in the Agricola forum?

i have been playing it the same way you have - playing it for free instead of buying resources.

We play that you can choose to build something else, but instead of building the chain item with resources, it must be built for free. And it must be built instead of discarding for 3 coins.

I interpret this rule to mean: If the free city has resources to build something, or the structure needed to build it for free, you can't have the free city buy those resources from you when you're building that something just because it benefits you.

No other restrictions, if you want to cash in the card for coins or build your wonder, fine.
