The rules are clear that if you roll the value of an existing tile which isn't there, you can take a lower valued one.

What happens if you roll a value which is higher than any possible tile (37 or above). The highest possible roll is 40 (7 5s and a worm). The English rules only mention the case of rolling too low as a failure.

Yep that was 12 Power Grid maps back to back over two days. Worth doing, but possibly not in such a concentrated burst.

Ooh yes, now a little to the left - my nose is itchy. No, no the other left! Now what colour is 12 supporter badge going to be I wonder?

d10-1 Buy a lottery ticket
d10-2 Take the highest tile

Not official, but that's what I would do.

Whatever value you roll, you may always choose to take a tile of a lower value.
Note that if you want to steal a tile from another player, it has to be the exact value.

Seems to me that the rulebook doesn't mention it because the rules that are actually there cover this situation already. I have no idea why this is a special case, except that you obviously cannot use such a roll to steal someone else's tile.

Sort of.

"If the worm portion that corresponds to the sum of the dice that the player has placed apart is neither on the worm grill nor visible on the stack of another player; he takes another portion from the grill that has a lower number"

To me, this presupposes that such a corresponding worm portion exists. The german also uses a definite article, but I'd expect an indefinite one if it also encompassed nonexisting tiles.

On balance though, I agree the interpretations here make the most sense.
