My wife enjoys Masons. This seems similar. Is it?

hmmm. Probably not the most helpful of responses, but I'm curious too. I own Terra Nova but have never played Masons... so we're on opposite sides of the coin.

Terra Nova feels very abstract, similar to Through the Desert. It's an area control game. Actually now that I've played it, Kingdom Builder gives off a similar vibe as well.

If you like quick playing abstracts that scale well and have a decent looking theme layered atop, you'll like it.

Hope that helps!

I played both several time and are quite different. There are no cards in terranova and strategically is more like checkers. I definitely love it.

I judge it to be nothing close at all.

Masons has no confrontation, no player owns anything on the board, tokens do not move

This game can be a battle. The stones are shared and do not move, but the players have personal pawns that are actively moved to attack or lock out others.
