I own Notre Dame but have played Saint Petersburg more often.

I love both games, but I find Notre Dame slightly lighter than SP.

SP plays brilliantly with 2, 3 or 4 players, is tough as nails money management game and there is a lot of strategy to be discovered. It's a brilliant game.

I find Notre Dame equally enjoyable but it's a bit more light-hearted. Also less predictable than SP, because of the card drafting, you never know what your opponents are going to shove you under!

I find both highly replayable, only Notre Dame possibly slightly less predictable (not in a good or bad way).

It's a really tough choice, if taken in account what you are looking for, I'd have to use the 2 player aspect as tie-breaker and vote for Saint Petersburg. Not that Notre Dame doesn't play well with 2, but card drafting with 2 players isn't the same as with 3 or more. Whereas Saint Ptersburg is equally as brilliant and brutal a strategy game regardless of the number of players. I play it often as a 2-player and can't get enough of it (been playing it for years, come to think of it...)

But wait for other opinions on Notre Dame 2-player, since I'm not too experienced there.

Notre Dame works very well with 2 players in my opinion.

I like Feld designs... If u are looking a good 2pl. consider Burgund (always by Feld). I find it even better than Notre Dame.

They're both good but SP is somewhat heavier than Notre Dame.

The only right answer is to buy both.

As other posters have said, they're both very good. They both support two players, but I think that Saint Petersburg does a better job at that player count; Notre Dame's card drafting element falls a little flat with just two.

I own and love both games. I think Notre Dame is heavier in a sense that it constantly keeps you on the edge of your seat with it's rats and shortage of everything. SP is more relaxed. Yet SP has much more player interaction. ND is more "you against the game". Also, ND is not as good as SP with 2 players, but it is still great.

Indeed, both great games. But Notre Dame wasn't that good with 2 players, St Petersburg is good with any number.

I like Notre Dame better, but with 2 I'd go with St. Petersburg.
