All --
As a fellow board game player and game designer (still working on my Viking game), I want to ask you to consider supporting a small arts project I have posted on Kickstarter.com:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/onehope/springerle-madne...
While the tools and equipment are for the production of cookie molds/presses, please be aware that this will allow me to support game design and development with specialty crafted wood pieces, carved wooden boards (including with deeply dimensional features) and more -- whether for one off or in high production counts.
Thus, if you support my Springerle Madness Kickstarter project, you will also be helping set up a business that will be supporting board game design! Also, your wives and girlfriends will probably love our specialty wooden cookie presses!
Aren't we all getting tired of the same little wooden meeples and building shapes from all the usual overseas manufacturers? Support me and I'll launch a whole new line of options -- I promise.
Thanks to everyone in advance, Thomas.

Those look *very* nifty. I'm not sure I can support right now, but if this is open until March...

I selected 40 days and 40 nights as the period of the campaign, so it will be live until the early morning hours of Monday, March 12.
If anyone wants a cookie press made in a board game theme or has any ideas, let me know!

Ok, I'm in for one. We'll probably end up getting something somewhat more traditional than a board game theme, but Settlers of Catan tiles could be pretty cool.

Thank you! I've noted your support and will be taking care of you. Let's hope we get some support going as right now it is a bit slower than I expected. Hopefully, some others here will help as well!
Thanks again! Thomas.

I'm in for one too. Very nice! You should really do a video that shows them being used.
Will you look at my Kickstarter project? I'm 75% funded with a week to go. Will be kicking off my board game Cartoona in about a month! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/478379924/design-your-ow...

I've backed your project -- and I saw you've made your goal too! Congratulations!
AND ON MY PROJECT:
We're a little slow on developing backers, which should change now that the video is live. Therefore, PLEASE HELP AND BACK US!

Again, if we're funded, we'll also be doing wood carving for game pieces and boards (and with the equipment we'll be able to produce BOTH low and high volumes for very, very low costs).
An example of a carved and painted game board that we will be able to produce (this would be less than $4 each).
Thanks! Thomas.

I'm in.
I love to make Springerlies at Christmas time. I have an old roller that I have had from my family for years.
They are pretty easy to make. I just use the recipe from Joy of Cooking personally.
I would be curious to see what the press looks like. Do you have any images?
I will be looking for one of the traditional carvings, probably the tree of life and the swan, each with our name on the bottom, which would be pretty cool.
Are you making each stamp individually by hand? That seems like a lot of work!

Just realized that you asked a third question too....
Solamar wrote: Are you making each stamp individually by hand? That seems like a lot of work! We will be doing two catalogs of carvings -- one is for full hand-carved presses and the other is for reproductions of hand-carved presses that are digitally scanned and then cut with a very high-end CNC into pear wood. Thus, the CNC reproductions are essentially identical to the hand-carved versions and can be much more affordably done -- cheaper and obviously much better than the clay and resin molds that one finds out on the market today. Nothing compares to real wood, as you know, since you have a press that has come down through the generations to you.
Also, I should mention that the lower cost CNC reproduction carving wood catalog drives demand for personalized hand-carvings, which is what we as wood carving artists like to do best, of course. Thus, having the CNC catalog is key to expanding our wood carving work as well and is the key to the business model.
The CNC is also what allows us to make game pieces, game boards and more for those here on BGG -- on small or large scales and yet remain affordable. This art form via CNC can really add to and transform the game piece and game board production industry.
Thanks again for your support and for backing us on Kickstarter!
Thomas.
