So I'm playing Artimisium I. And have a squadron that just lost it's last galley, much of it was captured, but not sunk.

Just checking if I'm missing something here

-I can't put the RE leader anywhere, because there are no ships in his squadron.
- Should those ships be recaptured (likely in at least one case) they cannot join other squadrons due to the special rules
-Therefore, they are independent squadrons should that happen.

Does that seem correct? Or do they join the (re)capturing squadron? Either way, I'm assuming no replacement leader is placed.

Not that it matters much, if recovered they'll be pulled out if possible and sent scurrying off. So the Independent Squadron rules don't hurt them much. The only practical effect is when the activate and the influence of timing on their hypothetical ability to scurry off.
