Why? Have you lost him?
Radio hams used to know that Jesus was alive and well and living in Cuba - I've no idea whether he is still on the air.

Not that this isn't mildly amusing, if somewhat old hat, but can it be explained how someone possessing an
microbadge posting a cartoon which, however gently, mocks the God and beliefs of Christians, shouldn't be in RSP?

I'm guessing they're asleep in their beds. It'll be moved soon enough.

It's not knocking God or the beliefs of Christians. It's mocking a certain type of Christian Missionary and their belief that all of us heathens have somehow simply "lost" Jesus, exactly as if he were a set of car keys, rather than taken a thought out stance on the existence or not of a particular deity.

No more so than when someone posts that they will pray for someone without first determining that they have the same beliefs. I don't push my beliefs here, I see no need to do that nor to let differences between my beliefs and anyone else's become a point of contention. I take no more offense at someone offering to pray for me than I do to posts such as this one. Which is to say, I find no offense in either, since I detect no malign intent in either.

Likely historical Jesus had a sense of humor.
Unitarian Universalist joke:
Believer (to UU: ) I hear you deny the divinity of Jesus?
UU: Not at all. In fact, we don't deny the divinity of anyone.

And so it should be in RSP, because it addresses this philosophical question?

If I wasn't clear enough - I don't find the cartoon, or any of the comments offensive, and some of them are indeed funny - I was only querying where the line between Chit Chat and RSP lies, and suggesting that this should perhaps, for at least two reasons explored above by others, be on 'the other side'.

I must say that I'm a bit surprised that this is qualified as a religious topic. Even Christians should be able to laugh at this.

I can laugh at it and even add to the fun.
Doesn't mean it isn't "Religious" in nature and therefore that this is the forum it belongs in.

If we are posting Religious comics THIS is one of my all time favorites. I wish I knew how to enlarge the image.
There was supposed to be a fifth horseman.

Unless you are one of those who really takes the "name in vain" thing seriously.

How is it using the "name in vain?" My understanding of using the Lord's name in vain is to use it in an inappropriate way, such as saying God damn it. This isn't what is happening it is just a pun.
I think that if Jesus were to see the comic he'd probably think it was funny.

I see this as a wordplay joke and not mocking religion or jesus.
I don't even see it as mocking sincere missionaries who use the phrasing.
To me it is clearly just goofball humor.

It really depends on the a particular sects interpretation of the verse. Using God's name irreverently can be considered breaking the commandment. Not necessarily inappropriate in the context of swearing, but using it in any way that is not respectful in a religious way.

As a non-christian I see it much the same way, but to dismiss that there are people out there who take "finding Jesus" deadly serious isn't exactly realistic.
