Hi, this is my first post.
We played about 10 games. For the first 5 we all chose one wonder to stick with while we learned the rules. We played A. For the next games we played a mixture of A and B determined before the wonders were decided.
So...
Do you guys random for seat order and random for wonders?
This game also requires each player to know what they're doing somewhat. If you have one "not to bright" or beginner person they can really gimp the people next to them.

Seat order - random, wherever you happen to sit.
Wonder - random, draw a card.
Side - player choice.

Same with our group.

I find it's generally the opposite; good players cut me off from cards I want, bad players take cards they shouldn't be taking yet and let me get the better cards later than I should.

And ours, except that if there's a new player or two, everyone typically uses side A for the first game, and if we're playing multiple games in a row, people can refuse a wonder that they've played recently, and we'll rerandomise seats occasionally (once everyone gets sufficiently annoyed at their neighbors).

This is how all of our first games of the night go. After that, people can choose their wonder board and side starting with the player who came in last during the previous game, and working our way up to the winner of the previous game, who gets last choice.
Some people may think our method to be backwards because it rewards coming in last and penalizes winning. But it quells the complaints that someone lost because they got stuck with a certain wonder, and lets everyone eventually try out all of the various strategies they have.
(And yes we do still have that one regular player who always loses and finds something to blame it on, even after getting first choice of their wonder boards far more often than the rest of us.)

Seat order: Whereever we choose to sit.
Wonder: Random
Side: Random (unless there are new players, then we all play side A).

Seat Order: Anywhere so that my wife is a neighbor (so I can steal her science and use any military cards headed her way to build stages of my wonder)
Wonder: Random (drawing cards and snickering that my wife got stuck with Giza again)
Side: A (for a few rounds, usually 3) then switch to B once my wife loses all 3 rounds and demands a new wonder.

We switch seats every game. Your neighbor makes a big difference in your play. This mixes things up a bit.

Side B Giza is tough to beat if you start socking away science cards to build your wonder and concentrate on points (blue) and keeping your military decent. Throw in a few good guilds and yellow cards and you are set.

Yeah I think Giza B is in contention for best in the game. It's definitely in the top half. The only objection I could see to getting it is if someone thinks points are boring (that's not sarcasm, I think it's perfectly justifiable that some people think lots of points instead of abilities is boring)

Giza B is a deadly side, which is why, more often than not, when our group switches to B after a couple of warm up rounds with A (and a few beers) the person who ends up with Giza B railroads us with pretty much the same strategy as you've described.
Question for the group: Has anyone played a game with the leaders expansion where someone netted the "Ramses" leader and completely DOMINATED the 3rd wonder?
This happened with my group once and it almost made one of our members take his ball and go home for the night.

Ramses is like monoscience in that you threaten to do an awfully powerful thing, but since you have to THREATEN that horrible thing you suddenly give your opponents a reason to start hatedrafting you. Tuck those guilds under your wonder!

Almost the same except i would recommend new learner to use the A side of Gizah

We have a very casual group, but few take seating very seriously. So I seat tha guests the following way:
First I randomly draw six wonder boards and place them all in front of a random seat. Next I take the appropriate wonder cards and randomly hand out them to the players, who now sit on a seat that has their wonder in front of it.
Easiest way I've figured to randomly assign seats, boards and sides.

Seat: We are creature of habit and usually sit in the same seats
Wonders: Random, if 3 players, sometimes deal 2 and pick 1
Side: B

-
Randomize Seats, randomize wonder (allow redraw if previous game with same wonder) and each choose side per their own wishes.
