With Rex coming out soon I got to thinking it would be interesting to have a variant with a long campaign. Maybe starting with a game of Fall of the Empire (from Shards), then Rex, then a normal TI3 game. I am not very creative myself, but figured I would throw this idea out there for anyone willing to brainstorm special rules for this kind of campaign, most importantly what starting advantages could be conferred on the winner of the Fall of the Empire game at the start of the Rex game and so on. I presume the Lazax player will eventually become the L1z1x for the final TI3 portion (despite the somewhat lack of continuity here). Anyway just thought I would throw that out there.

I'll tell you this: You aren't the first person to suggest this idea. Search around here and/or the FFG forums and you should be able to find a few threads discussing this idea.
I'll also tell you this: You're craaaazy!
Crazy in a good way, of course.

Me and some friends were discussing this last night.
Here's what we came up with for a weekend of epic play to write the history of the galaxy.
GAME 1: Six player "Fall of the Empire" TI3 scenario. Lazax, Jol'Nar, Hacan, Letnev, Sol, Xx'cha
GAME 2: Rex. Winner of Game 1 gains 3 bonus influence & 1 bonus strategy card at start. Lazax, Jol'Nar, Hacan, Letnev, Sol, Xx'cha
GAME 3: TI3. Winner of Game 2 begins the game with 3 GF on Mecatol Rex. L1z1x/Winnu (if lost/won GAME 2), Jol'Nar, Hacan, Letnev, Sol, Xx'cha
The idea was that although these advantages are pretty huge they're massive diplomatic penalties - people will be very hostile to the winners of previous games.
Also, we'd do a little common-sense tweaking where possible to follow the story. Ie. Rex becomes Quann if Quann's fall ends Game 1. If someone else wins Game 1 then they play with the Sol rules, etc.
Afterwards we want to write it all up as a history. A lot of fun if not very balanced!
