Does any of you get in a situation where it's impossible to setup the map with the expansions (by the rules). I've had two or three times that when the 12 piece got distributed along other small pieces we couldn't even get one player's home realm to 4 distance from another...

What do you do to solve this? We distribute new tiles, but I wonder if anyone actually plays in these mini maps? (Though in the rules I believe it says only one occurrence of two home realms being at 3 distance can happen).

(Or I may be doing something wrong I guess...)

Set up a lot of the PBF framework for BSG, Runewars, Small World, The Devil's Castle. PBF in Gears of War, Death Angel, A Game of Thrones. Currently playing Twilight Struggle, Middle-Earth Quest and Eclipse on Vassal.

I'm anal about using the right terms to describe games and have posted an alternative glossary to the inconsistent sprawl in BGG's database and lexicon that is clear, accurate and simple. I care big time about my reviews, ratings and comments.

gluck completing that quest where you have to travel five spaces ... we found one spot that was five spaces away .. it was neutral .. the back-hex in the home realms were only four hexes away .. the only reason why it was far enough was because it was behind a mountain!!!

i find that with the expansion you goto war a lot faster than before

The last home realm placed can be 3 spaces away from any of its neighboring factions. So the last placed home realm and all of its neighbors only have to be 3 away.

During map placement, I try to do some creative placement of map tiles. Do not be afraid to have holes in the map.

This is a sidenote but anyway. When we play the game sometimes we just want the lost city to be on the map so we let it be on the table before the first player places his frist tile. You will have one extra map piece this way but who cares, its only one hex anyway =)
