Historical Setup
↑Ptolemy Turn 2 FV=79 Command=7+5
Ptolemy orders his army on the left to advance. On his right he attacks and immediately places the enemy wing and Demetrius himself under severe pressure.
↑Demetrius Turn 2 FV=63 Command=6+7
The cavalry struggle continues on the left wing with Demetrius himself leading his cavalry. He reinforces his left with more cavalry. His elephants in his centre inflict damage on the opposing light infantry and the phalanxes in reserve advance in in support.
↑Ptolemy Turn 3 FV=79 Command=7+5
Ptolemy attacks all along the line with his cavalry on the extreme left punching ahead of his infantry.
↑Demetrius Turn 3 FV=63 Command=6+5
The bitter fight continues with both sides taking casualties and no obvious weaknesses showing at this point in the battle. Ptolemy’s cavalry on his left flank are driven from the field.
↑Ptolemy Turn 4 FV=76 Command=7+6
Demetrius is killed trying to rally his cavalry! The battle swings in Ptolemy’s favor. Ptolemy reinforces his success on the right by bringing more cavalry across to join him in the hope of breaking through now that Demetrius is dead. Ptolemy’s infantry on his extreme left push hard against the enemy.
↑Demetrius Turn 4 FV=53 Command=5+6
Despite the loss of their commander Demetrius’s army continues the fight, giving as much as they get.
↑Ptolemy Turn 5 FV=72 Command=7+6
The breakthrough Ptolemy has been waiting for happens as his extreme left infantry sweep the opposing infantry from the field! Still unable to break through himself Ptolemy orders more cavalry to join the attack on the right.
↑Demetrius Turn 5 FV=34 Command=3+5
The right flank of Demetrius’s army now rests in the centre tile! They are about to be attacked from the flank. Their commander decides to push on and attacks with everything he has, but is unable to break through. The infantry brace themselves for an attack from the flank next turn. The cavalry in the center left and far left do not give up and take a toll on the enemy.
↑Ptolemy Turn 6 FV=67 Command=6+2
Demetrius’s extreme right is assailed front and side but the phalanxes supported by elephants hold firm. Amazingly on the the right Ptolemy still does not break through and is resisted by a small group of veteran heavy cavalry, valiantly preventing their army from being flanked on both sides.
↑Demetrius Turn 6 FV=34 Command=3+3
Demetrius phalanxes in the centre heroically rout the opposing enemy in their front, despite being assailed on their flank. Some infantry advance while others supported by elephants remain to secure the flank attack. The cavalry opposing Ptolemy finally realise they can do little more and abandon the position to reinforce the center left.
↑Ptolemy Turn 7 FV=52 Command=5+6
Ptolemy reinforces his center right with cavalry from his wing. He sends light cavalry to the rear of the enemy line.
Ptolemy at the head of his heavy cavalry advances into the vacant flank and swings into the enemy key zone. The flank attack overwhelms the enemy and those not killed leave are routed.
The flanking infantry on the left finally crush the remainder of the army.
