I don't suppose anyone has heard any more about an implementation of Citadels for smartphones/tablets? I know FFG spoke about it a couple of years ago for iPhone, but that seemed to disappear and the last time I emailed them they told me (very nicely!) that they didn't tend to speak about future plans until they were definite and/or near completion. Anyone have any inside contacts? :-)
Ideally, I'd like to play on my iPad but an Android version wold be good too. I'm sure there's a demand for this beyond just me!

Even with announcements, I'll believe it when I see it, as devs are either lacking in being able to get stuff done, or it takes them longer to get stuff out that the wait can be pretty long.
In the meantime, there's BSW, and Citadelles.net. Former is only vs. human players, latter is both vs. that and AI. I haven't visited the latter in ages, so if it's back up again (there was an announcement to that effect), it'll also have the expansion purple districts (but not the exp characters)

Completely agree about dev times and waits. I'm a developer myself, I'm sadly aware of how easily things can slip! :-)
Both BSW and citadelles.net are Java-only, though, I understand, which means they don't work on iOS or Android at all. if I had more time, I'd write an app myself - the game itself and its rules aren't particularly hard, though writing AIs would be difficult. But I don't have time so I guess that's moot!
It's just a bit frustrating since apparently Citadels has been a good seller for FFG and you'd think it'd be worth their time getting an app out. Oh well!

Well, something like Ticket To Ride has ALOT (more) of sales, but you'd think they would've had iOS apps ALOT sooner (like a year before they ended up getting released).
And the alternatives mentioned weren't meant to be iOS replacements, although I was not aware And nor iOS couldn't run them. All I knew was Flash was a "no-no" for iOS.
EDIT: slip of wording in underline

Very true. Ditto Catan. Which has had an app for ages but is extraordinarily slow with, e.g., further expansions and multiplayer. Given the sales of the game itself!

I didn't think you meant them as replacements, I just wanted to clarify in case any official types somehow came to look at this thread and thought "no rush, they have alternatives." :-) Sadly, yes, the only "executable code in web page" option on iOS is JavaScript. No Java or Flash. I think it's missing on Android simply because web-based Java never seemed to catch on the way Flash did (even if we might wish that Flash hadn't).

How do I access Citadels on BSW (which I assume to be brettspielwelt right?)? I cannot find it in the list of games.

They list it under its German name "Ohne Furcht und Adel"

Sorry, I should have said I already looked under that name as well. I can find the game on their website ( http://www.brettspielwelt.de/Spiele/OhneFurchtUndAdel/) but cannot find it to play online.

I have worked it out - it appears the town I was in didn't have the game.

?? "Town" as in where you physically live, or those make 'believe' towns within the BSW app that you can click and move around? I don't see how the latter would make a difference, but eh, ya never know...
