So we are using the "Representatives" in the political phase and I am Neckro Virus. This is the first time in our group that we have used the new political rule AND the Nekro Virus in the same game.

I have the speaker token and I am not 100% sure of how this works. Ideally I want to use my spy to target the Mentak to copy their salvage operations tech. I am sure everyone else does NOT want this to happen and I am assuming I am going to be assasinated.

My question is; Since I have the speaker token, does my spy's tech-coping ability resolve 1st, before I am assasinated? Meaning that I would get the Mentak tech even though my spy is dead? (We will assume the Mentak vote outcome is also correct in this senario).

I welcome all opinions. Thanks in advance.

My opinion is that your spy's ability is resolved after Mentak vote, so if assassinated, you won't be there to collect the tech. Make people think its your BG a few rounds and send out your spy when you're close to the end of the reveals. In high player count games that spy never works though.

I actually disagree with Brian (sorry Brian), but I also tend to be wrong about these kinds of things, and the resolution order of stuff.

I always play that the spy resolves as they are revealed (since the step is called Resolve Spies IIRC) meaning even if your Spy died, it would still carry out it's mission. That is the avantage to having the Speaker and playing a Spy, no one can stop it.

If you are speaker, you reveal your spy and resolve him. It won't matter if he is later assassinated, you are already resolved and it will allow you to copy his tech.

Thanks gentlemen for your answers. We ended up playing as the later two of you describe. The spy got resolved. However, no one targeted me. THis is the 5th round and I have been using my bodyguard the whole game. The clan of Saar has been keepiong me in check with his spy/body guard and has been the only person voting for the group.

However, something changed this round and my opponents all split their vote. It ended up that no one targeted me with a spy or an action card.

I gained the Mentak Racial tech "Salvage Operations." That should be useful for the Neckro Virus.
