Erm..In mid game..... Do u get hurt by minions who appear by darkness cards? | Defenders of the Realm

Have no idea how this slipped by me all this time! But I think a turn means all three phases including darkneess spread phase! Am I right about this? If i am in a minion free location, could a minion still appear and ambush me? Thanks a lot and this answer decides if my barbarian lives or not!
