Anyway, they talk about aliens referring to the unused flare deck. Anyone remember off the top of their heads which old Eon aliens draw from that?

Aristocrats!

That's my hope ... and my fear. Aristocrat is not an easy port.

Seems to me that Aristocrat can be used as-is.

The only change I might suggest to it is when the Aristocrat must discard a flare, if the flare isn't of one of the aliens in the game, the card is removed from the game. This way, the Aristocrat is not continually pumping more and more flares into the deck. (Or something like that.)

Oh, and maybe relax the one-flare-per-encounter rule for the Aristocrat. Allowing him to play two flares per encounter is probably all he needs.

And of course, there are plenty of other ways in which the power might be tweaked, and while they might work, and might be cool, are they really needed?

I don't think Crystal is going to do what it used to do before, because that has nothing to do with "splitting your vision" at all.

The marketing copy often has a bunch of blah-blah-blah that doesn't have anything to do with the game effect. I'm guessing the writer just took some inspiration from the crystal's alien artwork.

That's exactly how my own version works. The one thing I didn't care for in the original is how it removes other players' Super flares from the game. Oh, and I also made mine optional:
Game Setup: After the other players are dealt their initial hands, you have one minute to look through the deck. Take any eight cards (except the Aristocrat flare) to form your initial hand, and then re-shuffle the deck.

You have the power of Privilege. As a main player, before encounter cards are selected, you may use this power to draw a flare at random from the unused flare deck. After you have drawn your first unused flare in this manner, whenever you draw another, if you have any in your hand that do not match any players’ alien powers, you must choose one of those unmatched flares and remove it from the game. The flares you remove from the game cannot be drawn again.

I'd like to ask if anyone has nay clue on that alien on the bottom right of the picture contained in the rules.

After some visual analyzing I have noticed the "staff" in its hand is actually it's tail; which is a serpent. I then noticed the body is much like a monkey and there seems to be a headdress of some sort or perhaps a second head that is emphatically lion-like. This creature seems to be patterned off a Chimaera, which may even be its name.

Could it also be Pentaform? I mean, every single expansion has had at least 1 metamorphosis (change powers) type power and one alternate-win type alien, and I see no reason to break that chain.

If it were Pentaform, I would expect it to be a mishmash of five recognizable aliens that exist, like how the Xenophile has the Hate in its art or the Mimic is imitating the Loser. It's still possible, but I think Chimaera is a better bet.

Speaking of image cross-references (which I really enjoy), I think there's one on Poison but I can't figure it out. The graphic on the back of the spacecraft seems very much in the style of the eight alien icons that adorn the back of the destiny cards.

I've been through all 96 known alien images and it doesn't seem to fit any of them, so I assume it could represent one of the 14 Alliance aliens not yet seen. But did I just miss somebody?

I'm under the impression that the "space-ship" is actually a toxic-gas canister, in which the gases eventually form the "body" of the alien as the art seems to indicate from the white whispy air into the more green alien.

The canister may be a "skeletal face" of the Poison alien itself contained inside.

Ooh, nice spotting; I didn't notice the symbol there at all. I can't figure out what it's meant to be either, though. The closest I can think of to a match is the Virus, which has those four chin-tentacle-things, but the shape of the head is still wrong.

Yeah it definitely looks like a "Warning Poisonous" sign.

Hmm, yeah, it does seem like ooze is spilling out of a simple geometric solid and then coalescing into a monster. So perhaps not a cross-reference after all, just some alien race's version of our skull-and-crossbones poison warning.

If you're worried about running out, you could take a proportioned amount of them and write "3" or "5" on them.

After reading the rules it seems that the "Odd Player" during a team cosmic play is on the + side, since he get's twice as many turns as the others but he wins if only he gets the victory condition met. as oppossed to the teams in which both players need to meet the victory conditions.

Since they allies are obbligated to ask eachother to ally you would think there is no prob. but... the ally does not have to respond to the call for alliance. he can just as well side with the opposing forces.

Hmmmm....

Have to put it in practise to see how it works out though.

So you're saying that the lone player is at an advantage because the teams have the option of being stupid and shooting themselves in the foot?

This is only a factor at all when something like the Grudge or Magnet is involved.
