Apologies if this doesn't belong in the Hot Deals forum, but since this project is ending soon, is already funded, ends in less than 12 hours, has already unlocked a stretch reward, and is close to unlocking a second, I thought it would be worth mentioning here.
A few weeks ago when the KickStarter page went up, the game was just a 2-player abstract tile game, somewhat similar to Hive.
Yesterday the funding hit $25,000, which unlocked the first stretch reward: a 3-4 player expansion (2 more sets of tiles, essentially doubling what you get).
Currently the game isn't too far away from a 2nd stretch goal, which would be a carrying case for the tiles (so you don't have to use the box).
The cheapest pledge at this point is $20, but there are other options for buying multiple copies, that result in lower costs per copy ($15, $13, $10, and even $8 per copy).
If you don't care about the 3-4 player expansion, you could think of it as actually being 2 sets of the 2 player game.
Here's the KS link: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/michaelmindes/for-the-wi...

Re: For The Win + bonus stretch reward(s) on KickStarter, ends tonight at 11pm EST
I'm getting two copies. One for my wife and I, and the other as a present.
I hope we make it to the second stretch goal.

Just a quick correction for your title, the project ends at midnight EST, or 11pm CST.

While the bag would be nice, I have a few crown royal bags that will work just as well - while keeping my old school rep intact.

Thanks, updated.
I wasn't exactly sure of the end time. It said 11 hours back around 12:30PM, so to err on the side of caution I assumed 11PM rather than midnight.

If you look directly below the backers/dollars/hours left statistics on the KS page, you'll see this message against a dark background: "THIS PROJECT WILL BE FUNDED ON WEDNESDAY FEB 8, 12:00AM EST." That's where I got midnight from.

We dream of having crown royal bags to hold game chits in. Right now our games like Crows and Carc get pulled from doggie poop bags

That doesn't seem sanitary.

So why all the excitement about 3-4 player expansion? I've only looked at the game briefly, but it seems like a pretty abstract game with a minor (though interesting) theme. Wouldn't that be best as a 2-player game anyway?

I assume it's because most abstract games seem limited to two players. A 4 player version of this game does seem like it'd be a bit chaotic, but I guess it's at least nice that there's the option for it.
Or people might be excited for the perceived value (doubling the number of tiles they were originally getting). If the second stretch goal is reached, two sets can be kept in the box and two kept in the bag, allowing, essentially, for two separate copies of the 2-player game (give one away, keep the other).
Edit: FWIW, I think I read that the game was originally designed for 3-4 players, and was cut down to 1-2 to save on costs (but with an expansion still possible for the future). So the game + expansion may be the "true" way the game was meant to be played. The designer may be able to chime in on whether this is true or not.

I pledged. I would really like to see the remaining $1900 achieved so I can get a nifty bag, The more stuff, the merrier.

The review I saw indicated the game play is changed as you would expect. There are more plays between your opportunities that can change your best laid plans! While the serious player will complain this is chaotic or random, it should make the game more appealing to the quicker lighter style some prefer. If you love chess, play chess or two player FTW. If not, adding more players may make the game more fun for you. I know the classic "beat up dad" scenario doesn't work for everyone, but it will for some, and it is nice to have the option. The reviewer indicated the game was still good, but of course the flavor had changed a bit.

Thanks for moving this to the appropriate place. Unfortunately this forum seems devoid of people who don't regularly follow everything going on on Kickstarter, and therefore has no chance of reaching people who would otherwise be interested (but don't care to keep up with everything KS-related), and consequently no real purpose.
I understand the Hot Deals section could become a mess if tons of Kickstarter links are posted, but I thought my reasoning in the original post was good enough to justify posting it there (namely that it's not a push for funding, because the game has already successfully been funded, so from here on out it just becomes a better deal for funders).

I follow the KickStarter forum, and only see things like this when they get moved in or posted here in the first place.
Also, BGG is not anyone's personal press agent, and proper organization is more important than posting what's basically an unpaid advertisement where you think it will get the most eyeballs.
BGG does, in fact, have an advertising program, and I suspect it's quite efficient. I know I, for one, have clicked on quite a few ads here on BGG.

I won't doubt your specific case, but given that this thread has 1 response in the last 3 hours vs the responses it had in the Hot Deals section likely indicates my point about the KS specific forums.
I realize BGG forums aren't a free advertising platform, but I'm not Tasty Minstrel Games, nor am I affiliated with them or the designer. I'm just a person who bought into what I thought was a good Kickstarter deal, and figured I'd share about it in the Hot Deals section.
Further, D-Day Dice is a game I only found out about because it was posted in the Hot Deals section, and it was allowed to stay there.
Currently Shadow Era is listed in the Hot Deals section, and if you click on the link in the first post of that thread, you'll see that it's basically a pseudo-Kickstarter drive, and it's been allowed to stay in the Hot Deals section for 2 weeks and counting.
I can understand if there's a set policy in place, and everything considered advertising/Kickstarter'ish was moved, but that doesn't appear to be the case. So how do the mods decide what to move, and what's allowed? Their own personal interest?

It looks like to me that the mods have been more intentional about moving things to the Kickstarter forum since the beginning of the year. More than half of all the threads on this forum are from within the past month.

Agreed this place is kind of the kiss of death for topics. However I do think that kickstarter "deals" should be reserved for things that are really amazing. Meeting its goal and getting an expansion and a few extra chits is decent but not something to fret if it doesnt get smoke signals. Where as things like D-Day Dice or Shadow Era with the insane amount of extra goodies, THOSE make tons of sense to post in deal forums.

Doggie poop bags? Luxury. We used to keep our cardboard dominoes in a half of a moth-eaten potato sack, and we only got to play once a week!

Bah! We used to carve our dominoes out of the left over bones from dinner. But we would forget to pay attention to Scruffy, and they'd end up in the doggie poop bags anyway.

I agree, although even in the case of D-Day Dice, the deal seemed to be more about quantity and perhaps perceived value rather than any real quality.
I'm sure the mods have enough to keep them busy, and it's nice that KS stuff is somewhat contained in one area, I just figure there should be some sort of rule in place for allowing exceptions. Maybe a sub-section in the top of the Hot Deals thread would help, similar to how there is currently one for Europe, that way it keeps it separate, but still accessible.

Well, personally I was following the Hot Deals section, where I first found this thread - but I wasn't even aware there was a Kickstarter forum until this moved there. So, now I am subscribed here as well. Maybe more people will follow the threads here and this will get increased traffic going forward.
