Out of the 23 total sets for memoir '44, how would you rate Winter wars?
Is it in your top 5?

In order: MT, EF, BT, AP, PT. Nope, not in the top-5, but WW's BT deck is for me needed for BT.

...it's much more important than that!

Winter war and SoS very high because of the combat cards. Still waiting for an universal stack of combat cards for M44

Many of the WW scenarios use the specialty tokens like MG's, Tank Destroyers and Mobile Artillery.
The Winter Combat deck and Winter Rules add tension to the game.
I like it but rating it is difficult because M'44 is a mood for me... Sometimes I want to play the Eastern Front other times I want the Pacific Theater.

Buy the breakthrough expansion before you buy this one.

I now use the Breakthrough deck for all standard Memoir scenarios, so I consider it pretty important.

I really like what WW brings to winter combat scenarios (the winter rules being transferable to any theater/winter scenario). With the Breakthrough deck and Winter Combat deck, definitely in my top 5.

I don't see many posts in the WW section of this site and figured I should ask the powers that be what you think of this expansion.

Hard to eat an elephant... The M'44 system is pretty big and Winter Wars is the latest addition. It may be because it takes a bit longer to setup some of the scenarios.
I would have thought more people would have posted by now as well.

The Winter Combat Cards are fantastic, rest I could do without. I generally only play Overlord and Winter Wars doesn't add much to that. So I basically paid $25 for the 20 winter combat cards. Which I knew going in.
Overall I would rank this low:
1. Eastern Front 2. Overlord 3. Battlemaps 4. Pacific 5. Med' Theater
for my top 5.

I love the longer-playing Memoir '44: Breakthrough format, and I think the Breakthrough deck from Winter Wars is a must-have for that. So it is definitely a Top 5 for me, but only if you like the Breakthrough game (or if you have a Battle of the Bulge obsession).

It has good scenarios, and I don't mind the setup time.
It has breakthrough scenarios and good ones too. The BT deck adds fun to most BT sceanrios. Winter Combat Deck adds fun Winter rules are an added layer to consider when playing.
To me, a very good expansion.
