I have fallen in love with this game (actually, this is happening more often than I would like to...
) but I have been building a complete Wolfenstein 3D retheme, and when I mean 3D, I mean: 3D map, with 1,5inch walls: I plan on storing everyting in a big box, that will neatly hold every tile plus tokens, as long as the walls don't exceed 4cm (which is a LOT, since walls shouldn't be more than 2-3 cms, otherwise, it will be a pain to see what's below and among them).
One player will be the Nazis, the other will be the american POW (actually, I play this mainly solitaire, so, I will be the POW, and the NP will be the Nazi).
I have already re-drawn all the 8 tiles (will post pics later today), an I am on the merge of re-writing all the cards, tokens, etc.
I will have to come up with something, to justify the magic involved... but, hey... it is not THAT hard to combine magic and nazis...
stay tuned.
cheers

Thanx: I will post them, as soon as the mods aprove them.
I am planning on using miniatures, and not just any miniature, but miniatures I have personally sculpted (I was a sculpter, a while ago, so I made my own WWII miniatures).
Here are some pics of WIP miniatues of mine:

You are most definitely still a sculptor; your work is amazing.
Love to see some more pictures.

Thanx for the kind words and tip.
here is a tile:
In the final version, I will take out the light bulbs, since they would look odd with the 3D walls. I will add OSL (which stands for Object Light Source: a miniature painters' technique) on the walls, though.
the other tiles are being approved as I am posting, so go check them, in the DT2 gallery.

Just a quick question to all users: since I am planning this retheme, I will use svasticas, and other Nazi symbols.
Before I offend anyone, by posting on this thread symbols that might get on people's nerves (I have seen this happen frequently, here on BGG and on other forums): I would like to know if this might get people pissed.
If so, I will use other symbols, or another theme alltogether; if not, I will proceed.
Please: tell me what your thoughts are.

I see no problem with using Nazi symbols for a retheme. It's not like you're promoting the Nazi agenda...It's only a game.
Just my opinion,

After more thinking and planning, I have come up with the character classes and their WWII counterparts (sort of WWII):
- backstabber: assassin (the walking lady, in the other post) - naga: running woman - mekanork: soldier shooting - colossus: heavy weapon soldier - banshee: sniper (the standing lady with sniper rifle) - wizard: spec ops (the guy walking and holding the gun) - cleric: medic - telepath: coms officer (the guys talking on a phone)
I don't have pics of the other Miniatures, yet, but I will tomorrow (if I find the time)

Do you retain the board layouts and simply change the artwork or do you create new corridors?
I was wondering about how the mechanic of rotating the boards fits with a Wolfenstein theme (a mechanical experimental top secret german castle?) I admire the initiative of your monumental task

The only problem with swastikas and other nazi symbols is that some countries, like Germany, consider it illegal to do.
That is why some wargames avoid using such symbols, so they can sell their projects in Germany too.

@Dennis: I have redrew the original DT2 tiles, eliminating all those fantasy elements (as you can see from the pictures above).
O don't think I would be to draw new tiles and corridors, especially since I would risk to make them too unbalanced (either too open, too close, etc).
Even though, I have thought about dropping the "dungeon" theme (I know: a game called dungeon Twister without a dungeon ) and replacing it with a french villlage theme, with houses, small roads, corn fields, grass and hedge mazes, etc. If I do this, I will eventually have to change quite e few corridors.
It would be a very difficult task, but a fun one, indeed.
In this regard, the twister mechanic could be a sort of Tesla mechanism, the nazis invented and are experimenting.
@Robin: mmh... so, bottom line: if I post nazi symbols here, I won't hurt anybody's feelings?!
BTW: here are my plans: since the whole point of this is aesthetics, I don't plan on putting any character token on the board, but using all miniatures. Though, in order to distinguish the NPCs from one another, I plan on having a miniature, mounted on a slotta-base (the ones with a cut, if you know what I mean). The token will be round disks with a number (from 1 to 32) which refers to a corresponding NPC card. On such token there are also going to be stats (movement and attack), so, basically: MOVEMENT, NPC N., ATTACK, and, such token will be placed in the miniature's slot in the base.
BTW2: to make the slits in the walls more... realistic, I have thought to turn a few of them into windows, and others into cracks... The theme will remain Wolfenstein3D, and the allies are in a german fortess, and need to reach a certian room (Hitler's?) and save the day, while avoiding the nazis reaching their hidden headquarters, within the mansion. The Tesla thing, though, is appealing in a some way. I know it's

Yes, you might. Actually you'd almost certainly hurt a few feelings, and a lot of people would most likely be going "I don't see the big deal" about it. I don't think you're going to get the right call out of any single BGG user on this (although you might get a ruling out of an admin).
I expect people will let you know if your artwork is offensive, and now you at least know that you shouldn't expect to take the mod to Essen

Ok, settled: no Nazi symbols... just reminescent colors and fonts. I will post an NPC card sample today
Edit: here are the objects and their rethemed counterparts: -bow: rifle -large shield: kevlar suit (was there kevlar in the WWII scene?... who cares -Telescoping spear: sword -fireball wand: gun Key and Rope remain as they are
Ok, here is a sample NPC card:
I eliminated the swastica, and I hope the eagle won't hurt anybody. If it does, let me know, and I'll delete the image (even though, a white eagle, on red field, is not something THAT offensive, as there are plenty -plenty- of eagle symbols that don't mean something bad).
let me know what you think cheers

Just a quick question: in a solo game, how many enemies have you seen all at the same time, on the board?
While I know this changes a lot, according to the difficulty level applied, among all the levels, what is the ratio of enemies, on the board?
I will explain, when I have the answer.
thanx

Nice picture. This will be incredible I"m sure.
I think I've topped out at 10-12 npcs on the board, but I've only played the yellow level.
You can check some of my session reports to see.

Thanx. My idea would be to have the NPC tokens as the black circle, in the top right of the NPC card, with the Move-Combat stats and a number, which will corespond to the card. Then, as I draw the token, asign it to a miniature, by some sort of mean (a magnet on the head, the slot I said previously...)instead of having the tokens move around the board, which is against the whole 3D project.
This way, I need about 20 miniatures (more or less), as NPCs. Good to know

Ok, after a lot of work, I managed to finish off the following:
-32 NPC cards -32 NPC tokens -6 x2 objects
Already done: 8 floor tile miniatures (which will have to be painted... yes, all of the 40 of them: my team of 8, plus the 32 NPCs).
still To-do: 9 cambat cards for the Nazis 9 combat cards for the Allies
4 actions cards for the Nazis 4 action cards for the Allies
3 jump cards for the Nazis 3 jump cards for the Allies
2 screens/player aids
Today I bought this, with a 21mm diameter: to create the tokens (which will also be used to create the bases for the miniatures).
Am I missing something else? my eyes are crossin, ATM, so I hope I haven't missed anything. In that case: let me know.
Stay tuned. cheers
I have just uploaded the file in my Box.net account, with the NPC cards, card backs, tokens, object tokens, and bases, here [url http://www.box.com/s/mplj1mmgjt4jnn5pbrc7[/url]

Tomorrow I will start designing the combat cards, the action cards and the jump cards.
Everything is pretty clear, but I have the following questions:
1- there are 9 combat cards, but the numbers go from 0 to 5... What am I missing?
2- can someone please give me a scheme of which difficulty level icons are present on each card? I have seen the pics posted here on BGG, but I am obviously missing some. I'd really appreciate any help you could give me.
Cheers

Although this retheme looks really cool, I cannot in good conscience help you to create a copy of the game if you have not purchased the game previously. Good luck, but I wish that you would buy DT2 in order to support the designer of the game.

You are 1000% correct, and I have no intention to rip the game designer nor pubblisher.
I have bought the game online and, according to the seller it's on its way: just that it's taking longer than I expected... (too long, actually) but I can't wait to finish this project.

Excellent. Thank you for the clarification. The combat cards are +0, +1, 2 +2, 2 +3, +4, +5, and +6.

Thanx, Geoff.
So, after working on this for three-four hours, here are the finished cards (bear in mind: I plan to use this "variant" for solo play alone, so I didn't bother creating jump-action cards for the nazi player too).

Edit: for some reason, the pdf converter didn't convert some of the fonts... oh, well...
