So, of the two fan expansions for Dominion that I've released, this one has gained some popularity.
But I have learned quite a bit about Dominion since I developed this, and I think some of the cards could use a re-design (Ward, Book of Sorrows, I'm looking at you).
Would people support this, or would you prefer I leave the fan expansion as is since people have already printed it out?
Why? Well, the first reason is that curses SUCK, and getting a curse every time you play a card for a small benefit just isn't worth it. It bogs down the deck and makes the game slower. Also, with the Curse Majures, buying a card that gives you a curse every time you use it is really a losing proposition.
I would likely beef up a number of the cards or make them so you only gain a curse when you gain the card.

I have not tested this expansion yet, as all other fan made expansions I have seen interesting, because I do not have a group of friends fan of board games, and I don't play as much as I can. I begin following all the expansions of Dominion when I begin in BGG, but now I see some problems of this expansion that can be solved. If people have already printed it and play with it as it is now, the can still play even if some modifications are made.
Taking a look to the cards, some of the problems I have seen are:
- Dark Coven may include other curse giver cards such as familiar or Sea Hag. It is quite expensive if none are in play (I know the rules says to not use it).
- Ward is a reaction card that affects the attacker. Donald has already warned about that (and other users) in the forum many times. Maybe you want to change it (maybe not). To avoid making it so unuseful when no attacks, give the card a very small action (you can see the top card of your deck if you want it to be really small).
- Sinister Gift: problem of targeting a single person, And it is not an Attack! (Masquerade isn't an Attack as well, I know)
- OTHER: to make effective the cards that use trashed cards, make them trash as well.
These are my first thoughts. What were you thinking to change?

Well, Ward is right up there on the list of cards to change. In my defense, I created it before Donald's very well written explanation of why not to have Reaction-Attack cards, especially ones that provide no other benefit. But really, it is the poster child of "cards you should not create in a fan expansion."
Sinister Gift I am more ok with because while Donald isn't interested in targeted attacks, he has said that he is ok with fan designers making them.
The other cards I would change are the ones that give you a curse when you use them. Curses suck, and they suck way more than the benefit of the card.
I don't think I want to expand the cards that give bonuses to Dark Coven though although it's an interesting idea. I'll have to play with it and see.

I'd be interested in a redesign of this. My friends and I have played hinterlands and the other official expansions a lot and then next official expansion feels like it is a long way away so I'm thinking of trying out a couple of the fan made expansions.
The reservation I have.... and this is going to sound awfully superficial.... is the art that you have used on this one at the moment. The fact that lots of the cards seem to use photos rather than "painted" images I think makes them clash badly with the overall art of dominion and makes me reluctant to use them.
I'm sure you had your reasons for using the art you did. Difficulty finding appropriate images in the public domain? The fact that finding images that would suit the name of the card and the overall feel of dominion art could be very time consuming I imagine? Anyway I see that a couple of the other fan made expansions seem to have found art that sits a bit better with the original art of the official game (IMO).
Have you had any thoughts about changing the art on this expansion if you are going to the trouble of a redesign...?

I am hoping to download the cards soon, so there is still interest from me, and a redesign would be wonderful if it makes the cards work better - I have yet to try it, so they might be fine as they are!
I think it's more important to ensure that these cards are downloadable by all. I can't find a way to do it, because I'm using a MAC. The 7Z programme you suggest to decompress the file is Windows-only. I have found a similar programme for MAC, but I need to drag the "Books of Magic" file into the programme to make it work, and I cannot do this, because the download link for "Books of Magic" on your website opens in a new internet window rather than downloading a file onto my desktop.
Fairy Tale was so simple to download. Is there any way you could follow that model?
With regards to artwork, I agree with the above poster - the artwork you have chosen fits the theme well, but I would have to change it because the photos would jar with the Dominion artwork for me. That said, I'm sure it's because you needed non-copyright artwork, and I'll enjoy searching for other artwork to use when I print my own set. (And because it's for my own use I don't need to be so careful!)
Please give me some advice - I really want to download this (and your other expansion!)

I highly doubt I'd change the art. It's tough to get useable images.
If I redesign, I'll change the compression to zip. I used 7z because it was smaller, but enough people have asked for a change that it is due.

OK well, thanks for the response.
Somehow just don't feel like I can get them played with the art as it stands.... it seems ridiculous, especially given how poxy some of the original dominion art is.... but the feel of the art is somehow just a big part of the enjoyment for me....
Does the fact that you are using the art for a completely non commercial project make a difference...? I mean no one could really object to you using their art if you are making no money off it could they...? It just amounts to better exposure for them I would have thought....
