I picked up TS about 2 months ago and have played 10-15 games, but all with the same friend. I can't seem to get any of my other local gaming friends to give it a try. I would really like to play other people. Wargame Room seems like a great option, but my odd schedule only allows me free time to play from around 11pm-3am EST weeknights and Sundays. There doesn't seem to be a lot of action in the old Wargame Room chat during that time slot. If anyone else has a non-traditional schedule or suffers from insomnia with a craving for TS, contact me so we can roll some online dice 5 2.

Curious (and don't mean to hijack the thread) - is the "preferred" online method VASSAL or Wargameroom?

I might be up for that.

Have you given the TS Game Engine any thought? It uses PBEM (Play By E-mail) and I've played people from all over the world using it. Here's the link:

I much prefer WGR to Vassal. No offense to the VASSAL lovers... just my pref, and a pretty solid one, too, after many (200+) plays of TS with each online platform.

Just curious: Can you explain why? (Don't worry, I don't take offence--I'm asking sincerely).

wargameroom.com fully enforces and automates all the game rules and all the game administrative tasks happen for you.

vassal is more like the game out of the box. the players have to make sure they follow the rules.

so on vassal there might be mistakes or issues that could pop up and you have to typically do manual administrative things.

so overall it's usually a matter of preference. tack on skype and it's about as face to face as one can get with either system while actually playing the game online.

As someone who is fairly new to the game, I really do like the fact that Wargame Room fully administrates the game. Even though my tabletop opponent and I both read the rules several times and all the FAQ's etc etc.., the games we've played on Wargame Room certainly made us aware of some mistakes that we had made in our tabletop sessions. Once again, send me some geekmail if you'd like to play a late night EST game or just hop in Wargame Room's chat and msg me.
