Hey All,

The VivaJava Kickstarter campaign has had enormous support and that is wonderful. But, before I start drinking expensive cappuccinos and basking in my own inflated ego, there's still a good bit of work in order to get this game to production. Blind play-testing has already begin, but I'm one of those perfectionists. Our deadline is tight (to make sure backers get their games in August) and we have an updated rule-set which is near final, and now I want to be doubly sure that it is understandable even without a ton of pretty pictures or videos to guide players.

And that's why I'm reaching out to the Board Game Design forum before anywhere else. The feedback I received from this post was invaluable. And I lurk these threads as much as possible to soak in all the juicy bits and spark some ideas.

So, if you would enjoy play-testing VivaJava, a semi-cooperative, 3-8 player, light-midweight euro game, I have two, possibly three (or more) prototypes in my possession that I would like ship somewhere in America (and I may be persuaded to include my Canadian friends too). Completely blind play-testing. You get a box in the mail that includes the entire game with rules, you play it, you have fun, then tell me about it. Game designers give the best feedback, but I do hope that you enjoy the game as well; it's not supposed to be an agonizing process at this point.

I'm looking for people that are interested in the game, can provide good suggestions for rules clarity, and can get the game to the table within a week or two. Depending on how many show interest, I'd prefer to also send copies to those that might be able to get a good 7-8 player game going as those are the hardest for us to blind test.

If you're interested, please send me a PM or respond below. I'll have the games ready for mailing after this weekend. VivaJava thanks you for your help and so do I.

I'm interested in the game, and have playtested numerous designs (I can send you my "playtester resume" if you want. ). I can get it played within a few weeks, and can play it with up to 6, very possibly up to 7 or 8, but that would be very unlikely.

Well, I'll wave the Canadian flag if sending up to the 'cold white north' is a possible option. The Guild of Losers is amassing for a 7-player game-fest on Feb. 25th (Canvas Eagles, The Resistance, Havoc...). We could easily be persuaded to try out a prototype and give a good accounting of the game (but we cannot promise a positive experience but we will give you honest feedback).

Consider us interested.

Doing some spraypainting at the moment (never use lighter colors in games, takes forever to paint!). If you've responded or will be responding soon thanks and I'll get back with everyone interested later tonight. I'll try to answer any questions throughout the day.

Count me in if you'd like, TC. I already preordered on kickstarter so I have a vested interest in making sure I get the best possible game!

I have a group that meets weekly and consists of 6-8 players on a regular basis. We are also currently playtesting and expansion for a major title release from the past year. We are in washington state. We would love to help out.

I would be very interested in playtesting-- my group meets once a week, and we usually have around 6-8 people (Chicago Area). Typically we split up into two games but it would be great to have a game all of us could play together. It's a strong group of gamers (two of us are two time Mayfair hall of famers, we have one Dominion National semifinalist, and I have a few game designs I'm playtesting now as well so I typically know what to look for).

Hope we can help out!

My apologies to Mother England, but I once sent a package to the UK and it came back to me six months later covered in stickers, stained with tea, and obviously beaten with a cricket mallet. Honestly, it was weird. I would love to send one internationally, but I fear for it arriving in a timely fashion. Or for me getting something wrong on the customs slip (which I think might have been the case).

Texas group here with meetings 3/week. Two of them are specifically for prototypes. I also host a monthly Mensa games nite that has a strong preference for larger group games. Goota warn you, they can break anything. Sigh.

Well check it out TC...

I phoned up the queen. She owed me a favor, so no big. Anywho I was like "Yo...Lizzy...Check this: One of my west Coast gangsters be trippin'. That player sen'cho self some games n'shit. Bu'choo dun spilt yo tea all over up in this."
Then she was like "Oh Lord Samuel Esquire, my good friend! That is indeed quite a substantial shame and I can only but assure you that should your gangster friend send another copy then I will ask the Cricket-Beating-International-Post-Team to lay off. They should then happily pass you the unspoiled container ok big dog?"
*squeaky lips-teeth sound* "Aight cool..."

So I mean if you DID want to send a copy and then get a Southampton-based Blighty review for all the capuccina-io-skinny-latte sorts round here then I would be MOST happy to oblige

I'm part of a large mostly-designer playtesting group in NYC, a video game company with a bunch of board game-friendly developers, and love playtesting any time I can. I also love coffee. The big playtest group meets on the first saturday of each month, but I can arrange another playtest anytime a package arrives.

I knew that everyone would make it so hard to narrow it down. I wish I had about 20 copies of the game.

I'm starting to make decisions, but it becomes almost a complete lottery. Thanks for all the interest!

NYC Play Test Group
We have a pretty serious and diverse play testing group that meets at least monthly in New York City comprised of published, aspiring, hobby, and student game designers. Many members would be enthused to participate in this.

I wanted to thank everyone for their interest and support. Both those that posted here in the Forum and sent me a PM. The response was quick and excellent.

As of Tuesday morning, I've sent out a two copies of VivaJava to two lucky groups. I still have my gutted personal copy which I've sadly decided to keep for further testing since I've cleaned out every AC Moore and Michaels in the area trying to complete the other two.

But, I invite everyone to play a game with us at PrezCon Friday & Saturday, which is coming up next week. And please check out the newest rules which have been posted in update #10 on the VivaJava Kickstarter Page. Thanks again!

Oh, and for everyone that didn't receive a game, I wanted to throw a little geek gold your way. You know, if maybe perhaps you'd like to purchase a new microbadge.

You know, maybe a microbadge that looks like one of these five.

(I'd just give them away, but not sure how you go about doing that)

Two hours, tops. TC has this down to a fine art.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
