I was shocked to see that we've played false all the time: We used the figure limit (is it the correct english term?) as being the limit of figures on the board, not on one spot! And I was wondering about all your strategies building scout in first turn... *lol

However, it did play extraordinarily well, having not much of a difference to the games described by you, probably delaying the game by 1-2 turns which I don't think to be a turn-off. Furthermore, it did limit the over-powered hanging gardens somewhat, making it at least an effort to increase the figure limit. I can to this point not really figure out for what I should need a figure limit more than 3 or 4 since we usually don't have that big of a standing army... well, until now...

What do you think about this? How does it change the game in your opinion?

house rules rock .. playing games wrong doesn't hurt a thing, as long as everyone plays it the same way... game is still on .

Neat! Personally, I don't think I'll like this variant, but it is definitely interesting. Also, it will make Masonry much more appealing- there is a separate discussion on the BGG forums on how terrible Masonry is, this will turn it to a top 3 tech in my opinion.

(Note that Hanging Gardens is not over powered- you just need to learn how to handle it)

Well, we didn't research masonry either but printing presses got far more important, at least in my view. In my first game, my 1st technology was biology because of that - now I consider it absolutely unneccessary.

I havent played by the right rule but my point of view is that it will not change the game sooo much, but some differences will be there, e.g. less 2nd turn wonders - we used to burn our soldiers to build scouts 1st turn, but of course that hurted somewhat...

@Andreas: Jupp, du auch? -> Civ Runde?
