I've backed this game and am excited to see it come to fruition; however, if your goal is not met will I still expect the game? I noticed the following quote:

'Our production is not based on our fund-raising campaign. The project will move on even if we collect $1 so there is no problem and no risk for any of the supporters. Supporters will get the game and their promos as promised regardless of how well the project does. In addition indiegogo accepts paypal which is what many people use.'

On the Indiegogo site it states (in relationship to funding):

'Payments are processed through Paypal which ensures the security of your transaction and refund in case our funding goal isn't reached.'

So...

I think they have two types of funding. One is where the goal is not met and everyone is refunded. The other is flex funding which means they get all the money and the project is funded regardless. So Briefcase probably uses the one while IndieGoGo is just making a blanket statement that it could be refunded if that is how the project is set up.

Pre-order Project: ELITE today!

The first statement was made when a "flexible campaign" (where you keep any money that you make, even if the goal is not reached) was considered to be the only option.

We found out later that there was a "fixed campaign" option which is similar to Kickstarter. In other words, if the goal is not reached, everyone will be refunded. We chose that option in order to make everyone feel safer even though Indiegogo forces you to limit your campaign to 30days for a "fixed campaign" which obviously means you have smaller time amount to raise the funds you need. This is done in order to make sure that Paypal's refund period isn't over.

Now, if we don't reach our goal, everyone will be refunded. The project will go on and we will probably have some kind of regular pre-ordering period through our own online store. I am not sure how soon would that be though since the funds from Indie would really help us boost our production schedule.

Here's to hoping it gets to $12,500! I would really like to have the Casino company card set! If you've been thinking about funding this game, now's the time! Also, if you don't have Drum Roll yet, I highly recommend you jump onboard at the level that gets you a copy of both Briefcase AND Drum Roll!
