Since I can't change the name of the original WIP thread, I have linked it from here and I would love to get the community feedback on what this game should be named.

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/769017/wip-conniving-bas...

Thanks!

Sorry, I didn't read the whole thread, just saw treachery, deceit, and power. After reading your description there, I actually really like the name conniving bastards.

If you're vying for international distribution, Dastard Bastards might yield fewer mispronunciations. Or you call it car-knifing basterdz, but then you need to re-theme.

Treachery, deceit, and power has a nice ring to it and it would help it stand out in the crowd of generic board game names

I also really like the name 'Conniving Bastards' after reading about the game. It's a clever play on words, in my opinion. It's certainly eyecatching, which helps, and it fits the theme like a glove.

Blood Right?
Nothing springs to mind, but there might be a King Arthur or Shakespeare reference that would class up the title as well.

Use of the word Bastards is just not a good idea IMO. "Connive and Conspire" is what comes to mind for me. One connives at something but conspires with somebody.

Base the name off of the common antagonist, the Queen:

Queen's Gambit
The Queen and the Heirs
The Queen's Throne
The Power behind the Throne

I am actually entirely behind Coniving Bastards to be honest mate!

I really like it - but you might upset people, so you know, whatever ^^

I would have to copies made, one called "Deceit at the Steps of Al'Shazar" or whatever crappy title to satisfy the lamers, then have ANOTHER copy "in the back" called "Coniving Bastards" XD I would dig that.

But as said, the title actually made me click your other thread both here and in BGDF then I thought "Ahh, its Levi's cooL!" - but the real reccomendation will come as soon as Ihave read through your thread - brb

If "Inglorious Basterds" the movie can be nominated for eight Academy Awards (and win one for Best Supporting Actor), despite it having "Basterds" in the title, you can name a board game "Conniving Bastards" and not worry too much about offending people, IMHO.

Also, no offense to the otherwise good suggestions posted by others, but there are plenty of games called Queen's _______ or King's _______ or similar titles. They are nice solid titles, but they don't stand out like "Conniving Bastards" does. Just look at the controversy in this thread -- you'd at least get a lot of looks.

(Just so I don't end up like Seinfeld pushing Babu to make his restaurant a Pakistani restaurant, a little disclaimer -- I am no authority on game titles so this is just my own opinion, no more!)

I prefer Treachery, Deceit, and Power or Treachery and Deceit, but I wouldn't reject Conniving Bastards because of the word 'bastards'.

Great recommendations!

I think this thread is going to GG bankrupt me.

But I can't think of a better use for the GG than rewarding creativity and contribution.

I'll agree with several others and say that Conniving Bastards works. I have no problem with it.

I'll also add:
- Claim the Crown
- Take the Throne
- Fight for the Throne
- The King's Heirs

Blood Will Tell

Wicked Stepmother could work thematically, but has too many other associations.

Honestly, I like Conniving Bastards. It's not a kids game, so it's not like you need to be kid friendly. Plus bastard isn't even considered strong language these days. It's both literally and emotionally dead on, and gives a fun impression.
