Hey all. I've been playing this game for a little while with my friends. I guess we've had about 15-20 games at most, and a few days I finally got my point through to my friends that I had been saying all along: House Baratheon is overpowered. At least in 4 player mode.

Basically, in 4player mode you have Stark, Baratheon, Lannister and Greyjoy. If Houes Baratheon makes his moves correctly, Stark shouldn't be able to invade his territory due to the boat-card. Greyjoy won't be able to threaten Baratheon in the early game due to distances. That leaves Lannister the sole team to deal with Baratheon.

I had never played Baratheon before, but I saw that they can win by round 3-4 and there is nothing that anyone can do to stop it. Not ever. My friends didn't believe it until I showed them.. when they finally saw my point of view, we agreed to change the rules for neutral factions on 4player.

The thing is this.. Baratheon will take King's Landing and just make an impenetrable army with support all over the place. Lannister simply CANNOT invade this area, so Baratheon is pretty much safe. Further more is going south for neutral garrisons.. Baratheon can just grab 7 castles in a wiff and there is nothing anyone can do about it.

What we did to fix this unbalance is to make three of the south-most castles "unsurmountable" as they are in 3 player.

Take a look at the teams and the map for four-player and you will see what I mean. In 3 player this doesn't happen due to unsurmountable neutral forces, and in 5 player you have House Tyrell to deal with the southern invasions from Baratheon.

Basically, this is a great game but in 4 player the game is broken.

Any thoughs on this?

What's with this "Discuss." thing anyway. If there's one place where I go for discussing things, it's an internet forum. If there's one thing that makes me angry instead of willing to discuss things, it's "Discuss." in internet forums.

I believe it's supposed to mean "I would like to hear your opinions on this" but sadly comes across as "entertain me, now!".

Especially when it's apparent that the OP didn't spend enough care and time to look for relevant threads.

If people are already discussing some topics, it's inappropriate to stay outside and say: "hey, stop this, I want to start the same discussion again here".

Trust me when I say that not everyone here on BGG is a sarcastic, angry twit.

But, in their defense, this BGG is the GREATEST forum I've even been on. And you wouldn't know it from this thread, but I believe BGG users are the nicest in the internet world.

However, being that this site is the best resource, before you post your question if you do a search in the game's subforum you'll more than likely always find your answer.

If you can't find it..then go ahead and post it..you can even preface it by saying "sorry if this has been asked, but I couldn't find it..."

This way, some users might spare you the cynicism.

Either way, welcome to Boardgamegeek!

Something in between I guess It's not nearly as bad as when I read or hear hate speech, but it definitely makes absolutely certain that I won't "discuss"

I'm rather calm and collected a lot of the time though. At least that's what people tell me. Maybe they're just afraid of what might happen if they don't?

Edit: I definitely was less prone to silly overreactions when I still did martial arts. Guess I have to take up doing sports again, for balance.
