I was sure I'd spotted an error on the boxcover of my recently aquired copy of this game.
A japanese officer pointing, what to me, looked like a german luger.
Surely that can't be right.
Not that it has any influence on the enjoyment of the game, but it casts sure doubts on the historical research done by the artist.
So to make sure I wasn't making an arse of myself by pointing it out.
I decided to check if the japanese army wasn't at one point being equiped with german supplies.
Well what do you know! Turns out it's not a luger afterall, allthough you can't blame me for thinking it was.
Actually this is a nambu pistol, which looks confusingly simular.
I love games that entice you to look up things and lear about history.
Yup - Nambu Type 14:
. . . give a ship.
I would assume that both were based on whichever gun worked the best leading up to the war?
