Two new games showed up yesterday: pocket battles (celts vs. romans) and Risk 2210 A.D.

I am kinda blown away by Risk 2210--much more interesting than I suspected. My group is currently slogging through Risk Legacy, but I am looking forward to giving this a try.

Anyone on FTL play 2210 or pocket battles?

I played Pocket Battles, fun little game!

2210 is definitely a superior version of Risk. I would advise a few solo adventures before playing it out to get used to the cards and leaders. The different cards and leaders make even the worst starting location a good one. I would avoid using house rules until your group gets used to the changes.

This is great advice--I actually played a solo version this afternoon while I was waiting for BGG to not load. Much agreed. I played a solo two player gamer with three armies on the board. The commanders really change things around alot. And do the territory cards even get used? Other than for determining command card outcomes?

Glad to hear it. I am constantly on the lookout for games I can play with my wife. Our gaming group now gets together only once per month. I'm hoping she'll like this little game.

She is very much a Celtic warrior queen, and I, well, um, I have a Roman nose. So I am hoping it is a good match for us.

I don't want happiness by halves, nor is half of sorrow what I want. Yet there's a pillow I would share, where gently pressed against a cheek like a helpless star, a falling star, a ring glimmers on the finger of a hand.

In the standard rules you only use the territory cards for Devistation spaces and command card needs. Because the game is only 5 turns long there is no collecting cards for bonus reinforcements.

You can always use the cards for set-up too if you want to add to the challange like you do in the original Risk.

Hey all! Finally able to get on after the disaster that was this weekend's maintenance.

I've got to say... I love BGG, but this weekend was terrible. Unprofessional, poor to arguably no communication (I don't count the Google group when they had a perfectly usable splash page to use for updates), unusably slow hours after it does come back up, and continued poor performance. And no celebration of the internet's #1 holiday - April Fools Day, which they did such a great job of last year (and the previous year I hear).

Very disappointed all around.

Alright: my three questions for LSW:

1. What is your favorite black & white movie. Difficulty: NOT Casablanca

2. Describe your relationship with Lego.

3. If love were dinner, what would you serve FTL?

As I replied to Hobie, this morning (my time) I am honoured and extremely flattered, especially given that I am very new to FTL, it only feels like a month or so.

Anyway I will hopefully answer all questions, but given the intermittent response from BGG, it could take a while.
