Player 2's starting hand : Dwarrowdelf Axe, Horn of Gondor x2, Erebor Record Keeper, Zigil Miner, A Test of Will.

Very decent hands.

Setup :

The Carrock in the staging area.

Round 1 - Resource phase

Player 1 draws Winged Guardian, Player 2 draws Horn of Gondor.

Round 1 - Planning phase

Player 1 plays The Eagles are Coming!, revealing Landroval (Added to hand), Veteran of Nanduhirion, Steward of Gondor, Gondorian Spearman and Support of the Eagles.

Player 1 plays Winged Guardian.
Player 2 plays Horn of Gondor on Legolas and Erebor Record Keeper.

Round 1 - Quest phase

Player 2 commits Eowyn, Bifur and Erebor Record Keeper.

Encounter deck reveals Misty Mountain Goblins and Oak-wood Grove.

Willpower of 7 to a threat of 6 = 1 progress token is put on the quest card.

First quest phase is crucial, you don't want to draw a Hill Troll, though Winged Guardian would have helped.

Round 1 - Travel phase

Travel to Oak-wood Grove.

Round 1 - Encounter phase

Player 1 engages Misty Mountain Goblins.

Round 1 - Combat phase

Gimli blocks Misty Mountain Goblins, 1 progress token is removed from quest card, Shadow card is Sacked! (No effect).
Legolas+Gimli attack and kill Misty Mountain Goblins, 1 progress token is put on Oak-wood Grove (It is explored) and 1 progress token is put on the quest card.

Round 1 - Refresh phase

Player 1's Threat = 30.
Player 2's Threat = 27.
First player token is passed to Player 2 (Yes I know this might be confusing).

Round 2 - Resource phase

Player 1 draws Dwarven Axe, Player 2 draws Dwarrowdelf Axe.

Round 2 - Planning phase

Player 2 plays Dwarrowdelf Axe on Gloin.

Round 2 - Quest phase

Player 2 commits Eowyn, Bifur and Erebor Record Keeper.

Encounter deck reveals Muck Adder and Wolf Rider surging into Banks of Anduin.

Willpower of 7 to a threat of 5 = 2 progress tokens are put on the quest card.

Round 2 - Travel phase

Travel to Banks of the Anduin.

Round 2 - Encounter phase

Player 1 engages Much Adder and Player 2 engages Wolf Rider.

Round 2 - Combat phase

I hate Muck Adder since you can't take chances with it.

Brand son of Bain blocks Wolf Rider, Shadow card is A Frightened Beast (No effect).
Winged Guardian blocks Muck Adder, Shadow card is Misty Mountain Goblins (1 progress token is removed from the quest card), 1 Tactics resource is paid to keep Winged Guardian on the table.
Legolas attacks and kills Wolf Rider, 2 progress tokens are put on Banks of the Anduin.
Gloin attacks and kills Muck Adder (Remaining damage being dealt by Dwarrowdelf Axe).

Round 2 - Refresh phase

Player 1's Threat = 31.
Player 2's Threat = 28.
First player token is passed to Player 1.

Round 3 - Resource phase

Player 1 draws Valiant Sacrifice, Player 2 draws Erebor Record Keeper.

Round 3 - Planning phase

Player 2 plays Erebor Record Keeper, Zigil Miner and Dwarrowdelf Axe on Gimli.
PLayer 2 activates Zigil Miner, naming "1". Cards discarded are Unseen Strike and Gandalf (No effect).

Round 3 - Quest phase

Player 2 commits Eowyn, Bifur and Erebor Record Keeper.

Encounter deck reveals A Frightened Beast (Winged Guardian is discarded to prevent the effect, 1 resource is put on Legolas, Player 1 plays Valiant Sacrifice, drawing Winged Guardian and Steward of Gondor) and Wargs.

STEWARD, YAAAAAAAAAA!

Willpower of 7 to a threat of 4 = 1 progress token is put on Banks of the Anduin (It is explored and returned to the top of the encounter deck) and 2 progress tokens are put on the quest card.

Round 3 - Travel phase

Nowhere to go.

Round 3 - Encounter phase

Player 1 engages Wargs.

Round 3 - Combat phase

Gimli blocks Wargs, Shadow card is Banks of the Anduin (No effect), Gimli is dealt one damage and Wargs return to the staging area.

No way I could have avoided this, in that case, Banks is actually a bad combo with Wargs, though it helps to buff Gimli's ATK a bit.

Round 3 - Refresh phase

Player 1's Threat = 32
Player 2's Threat = 29.
First player token is passed to Player 2.

Round 4 - Resource phase

Player 1 draws Beorn, Player 2 draws Miner of the Iron Hills.

Round 4 - Planning phase

Round 4 - Quest phase

Player 2 commits Eowyn, Bifur and Erebor Record Keeper.

Encounter deck reveals Muck Adder and Despair (All progress tokens are removed from the quest card).

Thought about countering Despair and going all in there but I can wait one more turn...

Willpower of 7 to a threat of 5 = 2 progress tokens are put on the quest card.

Round 4 - Travel phase

Nowhere to go.

Round 4 - Encounter phase

Player 2 engages Muck Adder and Player 1 engages Wargs.

Round 4 - Combat phase

Winged Guardian blocks Muck Adder, Shadow card is Marsh Adder (No effect), Winged Guardian is still discarded because no Tactics resource is paid, Legolas gets 1 resource and the card is put facedown beneath Eagles of the Misty Mountains.

Eagles of the Misty Mountains blocks Wargs, Shadow card is Despair, Eagles of the Misty Mountains are dealt 3 damage.
Brand son of Bain+Legolas attack and kill Muck Adder, 2 progress tokens are added to the quest card.
Gimli attacks and kills Wargs.

As planned, Gimli is turning into a nice attacker there. Base of 2 + 1 damage + 1 from Dwarrowdelf Axe + 2 from Dwarven Axe + 1 residual from Dwarrowdelf .

Round 4 - Refresh phase

Player 1's Threat = 33.
Player 2's Threat = 30.
First player token is passed to Player 1.

Round 5 - Resource phase

Player 1 draws Eagles of the Misty Mountains and Player 2 draws Unexpected Courage.

Round 5 - Planning phase

Player 1 plays Gandalf (Lowering threat to 28).
Player 2 plays Unexpected Courage on Gimli.

Round 5 - Quest phase

Player 2 commits Eowyn and Bifur.
PLayer 1 commits Gimli.

Encounter deck reveals Goblin Sniper and Banks of the Anduin.

Willpower of 8 to a threat of 5 = 3 progress tokens are put on the quest card. Stage 1 is completed. The Carrock becomes the active location, the 4 Trolls are put into the staging area.

Round 5 - Travel phase

No travel.

Round 5 - Encounter phase

Player 1 engages Morris.

Might as well start with him since I have Gandalf to block this turn.

Round 5 - Combat phase

Gandalf blocks Morris, Shadow card is Bee Pastures (No effect), Gandalf is dealt 2 damage.
Player 1 activates Unexpected Courage to ready Gimli.
Legolas+Gimli+Gloin+Brand son of Bain attack and kill Morris, 2 progress tokens are put on the Carrock.

Goblin Sniper deals 1 damage to Gandalf and 1 to Bifur.

Basic idea from here on is to kill 1 Troll per round and hoping not to draw anything nasty while the staging area is pretty crowded. The Brown Lands and River Langflood would be particularly deadly.

Round 5 - Refresh phase

Player 1's Threat = 29.
Player 2's Threat = 31.
First player token is passed to Player 2.

Gandalf is discarded from play, Legolas gets 1 resource.

Round 6 - Resource phase

Player 1 draws Steward of Gondor, Player 2 draws Stand and Fight.

Round 6 - Planning phase

Player 1 activates Steward of Gondor and plays Descendant of Thorondor, 2 damage are dealt to Goblin Sniper, killing it.

Round 6 - Quest phase

Player 2 commits Eowyn and Bifur.
Player 1 commits Gimli, Gloin and Eagles of the Misty Mountains.

Encounter deck reveals A Frightened Beast (Countered by Player 2's A Test of Will) and Roasted Slowly.

Very fortunate encounter draws on a critical turn.

Willpower of 12 to a threat of 7 = 4 progress tokens are put on The Carrock (It is explored) and 1 progress token is put on the quest card.

Round 6 - Travel phase

Travel to Banks of the Anduin.

Round 6 - Encounter phase

Player 1 engages Stuart.

Gimli+Legolas+Brand son of Bain attack and kill Stuart, 2 progress tokens are put on Banks of the Anduin.

Player 2's Threat = 32.
First player token is passed to Player 1.

Round 7 - Resource phase

Player 1 draws Swift Strike, Player 2 draws The Galadhrim's Greeting.

Round 7 - Planning phase

Player 1 activates Steward of Gondor and plays Eagles of the Misty Mountains.

Round 7 - Quest phase

Player 1 commits Gloin, Gimli and Eagles of the Misty Mountains.
Player 2 commits Eowyn and Bifur.

Encounter deck reveals Grimbeorn the Old and River Langflood.

Wow, I won't complain.

Willpower of 12 to a threat of 8 = 1 progress token is put on Banks of the Anduin (It is explored and put on top of the encounter deck) and 3 progress tokens are put on the quest card.

Round 7 - Travel phase

Travel to River Langflood.

Round 7 - Encounter phase

Player 1 engages Louis, Player 2 engages Rupert.

Yes, I saw something, not sure it's the best plan VP-wise but it allows me to finsih it this round.

Round 7 - Combat phase

Player 2 plays Stand and Fight to return Winged Guardian under Player 2's control.
Winged Guardian blocks Louis, Shadow card is Banks of the Anduin (No effect), threats are raised (Now 33/35), no Tactics resource is paid so Winged Guardian is put face down under Eagles of the Misty Mountains and Legolas gets 1 resource.
Zigil Miner blocks Rupert, Player 1 plays Swift Strike 2x, dealing 4 more damage (6 total) to Rupert, Shadow card is Oak-wood Grove (No effect), threats are raised (Now at 36/38), Zigil Miner is killed, Legolas gets 1 resource. 1 Sacked! card is shuffled back into the encounter deck.
Player 1 activates Unexpected Courage to ready Gimli and Player 2 activates Erebor Record Keeper to ready Gloin.
Gloin+Gimli+Eagles of the Misty Mountains attack and kill Louis.
Legolas+Brand son of Bain attack and kill Rupert.

GAME OVER!

Final score

Player 1's threat = 36 + 1 wound = 37.
Player 2's threat = 38 + 1 wound = 39.
6 complete rounds = 60.

136

This scenario can sometimes feel more like a puzzle than a thematic adventure. Pop the Trolls too soon and the staging area is flooded or pop them too late and you get them all in front of you. Threat management is key but at the same time, you need some serious fighters.

I'm sure this is a really dumb question:

How can Player 1 and Player 2 both have 3 copies each of the Gandalf card when the core set has only 4 Gandalf cards? Do you have 2 copies of the core set?

It's not dumb at all, I use proxies for the good cards. I print the card image and put it in the sleeve along with a real card to have the same weight and feel.

"Player 2 plays Stand and Fight to return Winged Guardian under Player 1's control."

I'm quite sure this is wrong.

Why would it be? Stand and Fight can target an ally in any player's discard pile. Only restriction is that it has to belong to a sphere (e.g. Can't be a neutral ally like Gandalf).

I doubt anyone will care but I was reviewing my reports and I just wanted to tell you you were right. But thankfully, Winged Guardian has Sentinel so it could block Louis even though he was engaged with Player 1. Report updated for sake of clarity though.
